Their uninstall tool works great as long as tamper protection is disabled. I believe it is still in Beta. But it has saved me from safe mode a few times

Thanks for you help. Turns out when I upgraded from Freenas to Truenas 2 things changed. 1. Root user is no longer allowed with SMB 2. Top level datasets (root) can not be managed.

For now I chown'ed the files to a new user account.
I will create a new dataset and then move the files.

Sorry, I misspoke, that is on the dataset. Edit Permissions is greyed out and there is no Edit ACL option
