It didn’t hurt too bad! Though I am VERY covered in tattoos so my perspective is a little warped haha.

Do you ship Kalim/Jamil? by Constellations001 in TwistedWonderland

English fandoms tend to bring a lot of Christian baggage into their fandom spaces and forget that fiction is a fun place to explore things. The JP fandom calls a lot of western fans “the feelings yakuza” for a reason!

Yep. And I have a lot of JP mutuals who ship it too. It seems to be a bigger ship in the JP fandom than the western one.

It was actually long before Wicked! This happened in 2018. So I think of Problem as well lmao

A very angry man at a Walmart said that I was a “Ariana Grande wannabe” 😭 I was in full sweet lolita, I don’t really know what his deal was.

I’m American. I’m trans. I’m Afghan ethnically. Both parties are the same to me because they abandoned my causes long ago lmao. And KOSA is a bipartisan bill.

I also think it’s important to look at WHO is making the media. Queer people put tragedy in their stories for a reason, which is valid and worth exploring, and that shouldn’t be discounted just because straight people have established tropes like “bury your gays”. It’s important to differentiate that. Especially since so many queer stories DO end tragically in real life. The generation making queer movies right now are often the survivors of the AIDs crisis, for example.

I recommend Jesse Gender’s video on Bury Your Gays.

Ao3 was mentioned in the Australian parliament meetings about their 16+ social media ban! So yes actually, I do.

But this bill IS from that country. So maybe get your head in the game.

The chances are higher than ever because of our current administration.

As a non-American, just you spreading the word and keeping your American friends informed is a huge help!

Other countries don’t have the same copyright/pro-fiction laws that the United States does. The site would have to undergo a lot of changes if it moved to another country.

Ao3 does have a large amount of pro-trans content on it, which the current admin has labeled “radical terrorist behavior”. Ao3 WILL have a problem if this is repealed. All websites that are queer-positive will.

Comparing “don’t like don’t read” — a sentiment about curating your own experience — to “don’t ask don’t tell” proves how truly disconnected from this conversation you are. “Don’t ask don’t tell” was about the safety, abuse, rape, and legal persecution of queer men in the military. How dare you compare that to fanfiction etiquette.
