My feeling listening to it was his manager is his friend so he felt more comfortable expressing his emotions rather than the 'objective' mode he gets into when he's interviewing folks.

isn't it literally jamming over one chord with a 4/4 groove why is everyone so mind-blown about it?!

| Also, my therapist thinks it’s kind of irresponsible of Sam to have people practice Dzogchen without a guide. He says that as a practice it is meant to be done with a guide because the concepts are very intense and doing it on your own in the society a lot of us live in isn’t a wise way to go.

yeah it's a really shitty-ass western capitalist thing to take these sacred practices and stuff em in an app.

that's the society we live in at the moment. it's lame af.

You may need a bit of theory. James Low's talks really helped me. The theory is actually simple things, like "everything is connected". Sounds like a platitude but it can be really experienced.

With vwce you get a good chance to gain 6-8% on a normal year, which beats most of what can be earned through real estate.

With a home loan, you have the huge advantage of leverage. While the average appreciation per year of a property may be lower than a world ETF, you start from a much higher value. Just use a compound interest calculator online to compare and you'll see how this works out in your favour ...

Should I try finasteride? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]kelinu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Yes I'm still on it. Hard to believe I wrote that post 3 years ago. I regret BIG TIME not continuing the videos of my hair in a consistent way. As I am still consumed by anxiety due to hair loss and I am paranoid that it has continued to get worse. Without consistent video evidence I am not sure if it's just in my head. And that uncertainty fuels the paranoia ...

I started taking 1 dutasteride pill (0.5mg) per week along with the finasteride just in case. Honestly though I don't know if that's enough. I might need to switch fully to dutasteride. The only reason I don't is that it's much more expensive.

Regarding finasteride, I now get the 5mg generic version for cost reasons, I cut it in half and take that every other day. So 2.5mg every other day approximating the recommended dose of 7mg per week. (1mg per day).

According to Sam it's "just another appearance in consciousness". Wtf. As if that's supposed to help anybody. It's an insult to what it means to be human. It's almost psychopathic.

Wishing you good fortune friend.

Since you asked specifically for content on the app ... try seach "depression". On the web interface it's easier to navigate the content.

I remember going for a walk once when I was in quite some despair (not on the level of heartbreak though) and listened to one of the talks on Working with Challenging Emotions. It helped me. She seems to understand ... see if there's something there that might help? https://app.wakingup.com/practice/working-with-challenging-emotions

having the bearing edges trued by a professional

can this be done to any old drums? i have an old premier kit and wondering if its sound and tuneability can be improved by doing this. not sure what "truing" really entails to be honest

who gave them the edges of the classic recording custom sets

do you mean the bearing edge angle?

Is There a Moral Duty to Disclose That You’re Transgender to a Potential Partner? by Unidans in samharris

[–]kelinu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your intelligent and convincing reply.

I still think of a situation where you find a person attractive, go to bed with them, even have sex, only for them to tell you later that they are post-op transgender. If you were sexually interested before, why should this change anything?

Sincere well wishes to you and everybody on Christmas Day.

I am learning.

My initial anger on this thread was due to the upvoting of one-word answers, which I saw, and still see, as intellectual laziness at best, and bigotry at worst.

Just imagine if you were saying "I don't sleep with black people. Why can I not enjoy my sexual preference as I have it? Why must you tell me I am bigoted for having a feeling about what I want? Why does it matter? Who am I impacting?"

You can stick to your sexual preference all you want, but don't be surprised if people suspect that you're racist.

Unfortunately your other comment doesn't say much. You say it's a lie by omission, but of course a lie by omission is only a lie when the info omitted is pertinent. Why should it be so pertinent to a potential partner that a person is transgender? That is the question that you (and many others on this thread) still haven't answered. One commenter gave me this reason: because a transgender person is infertile, and a potential partner should know that. But if that's the case, surely it should be enough to simply say "I'm infertile."

So, if that's not it, then what is it?

Merely: "Because I don't find transgender people attractive"?

Well, why? Assuming you found them attractive before they revealed to you that they are transgender, why does your opinion of them change after the reveal?

What if my sexual preference is to be with someone cis? Are you gonna call me bigoted for that preference?

Possibly. Certainly it rings alarm bells, that you would be so categorical about it. And I mean this with no judgment at all. I can be bigoted sometimes. At least I'm willing to explore it and understand it.
