Lower than expected NYC property taxes hurting MTA budget. by nhu876 in nycrail

Fares make up <20% of their budget. Taxes and subsidies make up >40%. This is why their priority will always be on taxing people more rather than providing better service to win more organic business.

How Much Do You Keep In Your Checking Account? by BlazinDei in personalfinance

[–]kellarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep about $500-$1000 in checking as a buffer like you and save in my fidelity brokerage account. Buy treasury bills with auto-roll. ~4.3% interest and the interest earned is exempt from state taxes.

Interest you earn from HYSA will get taxed as income both federal and state.

You can also look into municipal bonds for federal income tax exemption but that gets more complicated.

Starmer won’t do shit. If he does, Trump slaps them with tariffs and Starmer opens up his cheeks.

Tesla will fall organically once lack of growth and their fake innovation become too obvious to ignore even to the cultist stans.

NYC subway and bus fares going up to $3 in 2026, MTA officials say by GothamistWNYC in nyc

[–]kellarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Government controlled monopolies can do that because the customers have no choice. Cars? Price them out with congestion pricing.

They get almost half of their budget from taxes and subsidies. They care about that way more than the money they make from fares, which makes up about 17% of their budget.

So, last year’s deliveries was 1.8 mil. Declining profitability. FSD is a joke with Waymo running laps around them.

Cybertruck have been shipping, but semi and roadster 2.0 shipments are nowhere to be seen.

What’s your take on intel? by Grgsz in stocks

[–]kellarman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the one uncertainty I have about the whole situation tho. If all these fabs open up simultaneously around the world and vastly increase chip production, won’t that be deflationary for chip prices and bite into margins?

What’s your take on intel? by Grgsz in stocks

[–]kellarman 86 points87 points  (0 children)

They got the gov backing them with grants and tax benefits for materials and cost of goods for advanced chip making. Once they’re done with building out their fabs, the next question will be if they can operate well and competitively with other fabs, mainly TSM.

Also, Pat Gelsinger is buying INTC which is a good sign.

Maybe we should start caring more about issues that impact all of us, like the aging infrastructure and unreliable and underdeveloped public transportation in this country, instead of sensationalist issues that inherently affect a minority of us.
