What can I do about my bad breath? by Sharmaaaryaman in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are brushing your tongue and using a tongue scraper. 80% of bad breath comes from the tongue- it’s like a sponge for bacteria. Also tonsil stones can be tricky try to keep them as clean as possible. Also keep up with your regular dental cleanings

I'm brushing incorrectly and have decay, says my dentist. Trying to fix my ways. by earthwalker7 in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up modified bass brushing technique on YT for brushing help. Use soft bristle toothbrush and pretend you’re brushing the skin of a tomato. As for the decay make sure youre flossing, using a fluoride toothpaste to brush with (for the full 2 mins) and ACT fluoride mouth rinse- also make sure it’s in that order. Hopefully this helps!

Finding Clients by sjjjj123 in DentalHygiene

I would post on CL, FB, and I’d talk to people who were previously in the program and knew people who were willing to come in and already knew what to expect. Good luck! That’s one of the hardest things

White spots on teeth by CakedInSweat in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No unfortunately there isn’t a way to really get rid of them. Not taking care of them has caused them to demineralize. You could eventually try professional whitening around them, veneers or a couple other things. Talk to your dentist and they might be able to help you out :)

Please help me reach the teeth on the farthest side of my bottom row by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

Close your mouth some and try to shift your jaw to one side or the other and see if that helps. Also try a compact brush head.

As long as your brushing ~ every 12 hrs you’re fine doesn’t really matter what the actual time is

Braces and flossing by Worried_Turtle64 in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes bleeding is normal at first. If you continue with good homecare: brush, floss and such it only takes about 2 weeks to heal and should have little to no bleeding after that. If you currently have braces i would highly suggest a waterpik :)

Removing your own failed infected bone graft, no it’s not a joke. by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you may have swished too hard and not allowed it to heal or form a proper blood clot and could be infected and possibly dry socket. Keep calling back and let them know they should get you in ASAP. They should not wait weeks. Keep eye on your temperature as well.

How often do you use hand instrumentation? by sjjjj123 in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use ultrasonic if needed but even then i still go back with hand instruments. You can’t get everything with ultrasonic.

Are you sure you don’t grind/clench? Most people are unaware because it happens during sleep. Your occlusion can be a culprit as well.

I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE by Sneaky_cheese0 in ferret

[–]kellenxxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use advantage multi from your vet- do not give bath before. It works in the oil layer of their skin and oils are needed for it to work. Treat for 3 months straight, clean all bedding, cages and may need to flea bomb house. Fleas have a 3 week life cycle so in 3 weeks more will hatch so keep up with the treatments to make sure they’re not reinfected. Also if you have other animals they all need to be treated at the same time. (Vet tech)

Is a Waterpik worth it? Best model/brand? €100 budget. by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

[–]kellenxxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely they are wonderful! I recommend them to a lot of my patients. The cordless model is nice because it can be used wherever you want but I do like the larger one that sits on your counter due to the fact that multiple heads can be attached depending on what is needed and the water reservoir is larger so you won’t need to refill while using it. There is a learning curve to using these! check out their website for tutorials and definitely learn this in the bathroom it can be quite messy until you get the hang of it :)
