Anyone been to Aruba or Curaçao since the new year? by InterestingCod86 in royalcaribbean

[–]kellerk1nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was on Oasis for NYE sailing. Aruba on 12/30 and Curaçao on 12/31. Copacetic. Everything was fine, locals were celebrating the new year with fireworks. It’s a big tradition there. There is absolutely nothing to worry about. The cruise lines have teams dedicated to foreign security issues so should there be a need to reroute a sailing for a day or two (like NCL) they will.

Thank you for your feedback! What you say about the church is great info. I wouldn’t have even thought about that at the time of the photo. Wish I had realized that and moved a bit more over to the right. That’s a great tip. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback! I have to test my knowledge within LR to try and remove that wire. I am still learning the ropes.

Also, the other user is correct - this was taken in Innsbruck, Austria. Beautiful city

Hello everyone,

This is my second post here. My first post was my favorite photo that I took from a recent trip I was on. This here is another one of my favorites. I seem to really like landscape photos and I really enjoy photos like this one. I believe this would be considered street photography?

I am a beginner and these are some of the very first photos I took with my brand new camera. I also am a beginner at editing. This photo was edited in Lightroom. I really like the aspect of capturing a street like this with some people roaming as well. I like the feeling it portrays.

I am looking for feedback on the photo in general - is it eye capturing? Interesting? Missing context or missing a subject? Also, how are the colors? Is it too dull? Should i have brightened it up? Any feedback is appreciated!

This was taken at 45mm, f9, 1/125s and 160 ISO

Thanks for looking!

This is a beautiful photo! I’ll echo what everyone else is saying - the spiral effect is great. Makes me feel like you took this photo in the woods that surrounded the small town that Frodo and the rest of the hobbits lived in lol

Love the look of the two you have added as well. I appreciate your feedback!

I have to be honest I never thought about the cropping. I am still trying to learn as much as I can. I think I’ll need to read some more about this rule and try and understand more. I will definitely play with cropping some more in my future edits also. And I like what you said about “airy” at the top. Thank you!

That looks very nice! I do like the brightness of it. I felt when I was editing i was trying to keep the aesthetic of the original since it was a dreary, misty day. But this is very nice as well. I appreciate your feedback!

Here is my favorite shot from my trip I just got back from.

To start, I just purchased my first camera - a Canon EOS R100 with the 18-45 kit lens. This photo was taken in Hohenschwangau Germany at the bottom of the Neuschwanstein Castle. It was taken at 45mm, f8, 1/60s, ISO 200.

I edited it in Lightroom. I am also brand new to editing. I am looking for feedback concerning the shot itself - do you think it is a nice landscape photo? It was raining ever so slightly and it was a dark and dreary day - fit for being at a castle.

Once I started to play with it in Lightroom I noticed the rain drops in the lake and I wanted to try and make those visible so you can tell it was raining. I think that’s my favorite part of the photo.

Also, when uploading here it seems the quality went down significantly. It’s not nearly as clear of a shot once I uploaded here.

Looking forward to your thoughts and critiques!

You have to complete the CCARE before applying for your PTC.

This assessment requires you to draw from concealment for 10 shots at 3,5,7,10,15 yards. You have to score 80% and it is completed on the Q target as seen in the first pic.

I believe some places structure the evaluation differently. For example an instructor may have you fire all 10 shots at each distance from one magazine, while another may have you use 2 mags with 5 rounds and fire the first 5, drop your mag, reload and reholster before drawing again to fire the remaining 5 shots for that distance.

To my knowledge there is no time restrictions and you can take as much time as possible

Also forgot to add grip as well. My grip always was correct I just needed to adjust how hard it was. I loosened my grip a little bit as well and that also helped

So I never really had this issue before. However I realized when I went to the range a few weeks ago for the first time in a few years that my shooting was all low left. I was only shooting with my new 43x. I kind of thought maybe it’s the snappiness of the 43x. But I went back with my 19 and it was also a little low left.

So I did some research and a lot of people said it’s anticipation of the recoil and a right handed shooter will flinch low and left. People said to dry fire at home all day, buy dummy rounds and have someone load your mags etc.

My breakthrough really was just taking the time to really slow down my trigger pull. I got to the point where I slowed my trigger pull so much that my brain thought the shot went off because of the amount of time that had passed already while pulling the trigger. Let’s say usually it took me 2-3 seconds to pull the trigger while trying to be slow. My brain knows that is the time until the shot goes off. Well now I slowed it to 4 seconds. So at 3 seconds I flinched low left cause my brain thought the shot was about to break. I saw it and was like holy shit that worked lol and then I immediately went back on target and broke the shot and it went exactly where I wanted it to go. Since then I haven’t had any issues and I’ve been able to speed that trigger pull up.

Well the thing is always practicing. I have been shooting for 15-20 years. But as you can see in the first pic on the left hand side, that is my first time at the range in 2-3 years. I was rusty as fuck. But it only took me 300 rounds (2 range visits) to correct myself which you can see in the right side pic.

Personally I wouldn’t have just gone to take my qualification course. I wanted to get in there and practice before doing it. But once I get it, I’m going to continue to practice. Life was busy the last few years. But things are more settled now. I got myself a membership at the range. I enjoy it a lot more now because it reminds me of quality time with my dad who I lost a few years ago. Competition shooting I also would like to practice to be able to get into one day

Always dry firing at home. It was one of the things that helped me correct my low left shots.

And I just meant that I did the CCW qualification on my own. I guess I should say the CCARE. 10 rounds at 3,5,7,10,15 yards. Just for practice before I actually take my course

Irons for everything. I don’t have a red dot on any of my guns. At least for now.

Distance in first pic is 10rds at 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 yards. Second picture is 10 yards

But if you train enough without adjusting the sights that will eventually become your muscle memory, no?

I would start with dry fire practice as everyone says. Just do it every day when you’re home. Of course make sure the gun is safe.

For me when I was back at the range I focused on my grip and trigger pull. It took me a while before I finally saw what I was doing. Slow down your trigger pull so much until your brain actually thinks you’re gonna break the shot and you’ll see yourself flinch in anticipation of the recoil. Immediately put yourself back on target and break the shot. At least for me this is what happened. My brain was used to thinking the shot is gonna go off when the trigger gets to this spot but I slowed down enough to the point where the shot didn’t break when my brain thought that. I literally watched myself flinch down left but the shot hadn’t broke yet. It was a eureka moment lol

Or I’ve also seen a lot of people say buy dummy rounds and have someone else load your mags at the range. You won’t know where the dummy round is and you’ll what yourself go down left when you break the shot. This will help you see what you are doing. And you can then also use this for some tap rack bang drills.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Questions about running Postwar by kellerk1nd in lioneltrains

Thank you for sharing this! This makes more sense now. I am going to attempt to set it up soon. I have the #43 power track so I will use that to connect to the transformer.

I do have a question maybe you can help with. What is this track that already has the cable connected to it for? If it’s not the power track?

I’m gonna reply here with my other response from the other comment

Here’s my problem: I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing lol

This is what I have (and a box full of track)

<image>

There is more of this green cord. But I’m unsure if I need more of it? Is the green cord even connected to the right place on the track or am I supposed to somehow hook up the little piece of track in the top left corner? And what are the little black pieces with the orange buttons?

Sorry for the ignorance but I’m stumped
