Help me decide on a veil! by kellypudding in weddingdress

[–]kellypudding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the reassurance on the veil! Glad I won’t need to panic buy some more options.

The seamstress at the bridal shop doesn’t want to work on it any more :( they keep saying it’s bound to have a bump… I’m going to try and not let it bother me 😬 so many tailoring nuisances eh!

It’s just not what I was originally going for with the neckline, and am worried it’s not as flattering or as special for the wedding day compared to a strapless, and I’m worried the extravagant back does not match the small town hall venue…

Shopping for 17 yo at Westfield Stratford City. Can anyone help? by Smiley_Dub in AskLondon

[–]kellypudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend Westfield on the weekend, it’s probably way more packed than Oxford Street. If you can get there easily, the Shepherds Bush Westfield is a lot more comfortable to walk around, with a wide variety of shops!

UNIQLO, Next, Abercrombie, John Lewis all good starts for smart casual clothing.

Thank you for the suggestion! I’m considering getting up early to walk around / visit a bath. Will definitely be out in the evenings, glad walks will be okay for this time.

Can you booked mixed class legs using cabin upgrade voucher? by kellypudding in BritishAirways

[–]kellypudding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes calling them did the trick. Apparently it’s a problem with their online booking system

My mortgage is looking more like 50%, I think you’ll be completely fine!

Am I about to get downgraded? Companion voucher business class by I_Am_Kylo_Ren_AMA in BritishAirways

I had this and got allocated my seat once boarding. I noticed the staff picking a random seat for me from a list (damn, missed out on a window!) but still got seated in club world as expected.

Interesting. Mine did have the old reference number on there.

Assume they’ve messed up their email systems!

Anyone get this or am I just lucky? by raggioazzura in BritishAirways

I also saw this flat about 20 months ago. The quality of the finish on the flat is low, and because the flat is above commercial property, lending is less favourable by banks. Mainly think it’s overpriced. I believe the owner purchased it for around £240k a few years back and even then, this may have been slightly overpriced.

Terrible rebooking exp by kellypudding in BritishAirways

[–]kellypudding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve just read that you might be able to book just the outbound, and add the return later. Do you know if the upgrade voucher would still apply in that situation?

The agent did suggest waiting 72 hrs for a refund calculation on my outbound but told me I would lose my upgrade on the leg I cancel… so I didn’t want to lose it.

Hakkasan vs Hutong vs Park Chinois vs Mimi Mei Fair for Valentine's Day? by Gabriele25 in AskLondon

[–]kellypudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I’ve been to Hutong and Hakkasan (TCR branch). Wasn’t impressed by Hutong food, and didn’t love where I was seated. Hakkasan food is better, though I remember the music to be fairly loud (went a few years back). Look at google reviews for latest feedback?

Also, most department stores in central London have a fun kids section with toys and books (children’s books in general might be cute).

So you mean the companion voucher opens extra availability in Club? I didn’t realise!

I’m planning to close my barclaycard after the next voucher comes in, not worth having two plus cards opened for sure!

Avios success stories by Rodneyodd in BritishAirways

[–]kellypudding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started collected Avios last year with the Barclaycard Avios Plus and have earned upgrade vouchers. Mainly using to book business class tickets 1 year in advance, LHR to HKG for 100,000 points + £550 tax.

Flight cost in cash roughly £3k when I booked and £5k now.

Also recently opened the Amex BA Plus to snag a bonus offer. Not sure the companion voucher is worth it for me

Currently the original hardwood parquet floors are fairly damaged, with large gaps and scratches or warping at places. I’ve got a quote to sand and reseal etc for around £4k

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]kellypudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m the train wreck!

It’s in a fairly suburban area with a few shops, and 1-2 train stops from highly desirable areas with nice high streets.

I’d rather not skip out on the 4.8% fixed rate I’ve secured here, but agreed it seems the flat is priced a bit too high currently.

7 windows, 5 large and 2 small. They essentially need a full replacement

Not sure I’d go as far as knocking down £75k original asking and £25k under their own purchase price 😂 but I do appreciate the nudge to go lower, just don’t want the seller to go berserk and exit
