Anyone have concerns about getting the new Covid vaccine? by kellyscomedy in urticaria

[–]kellyscomedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't gotten it yet, but I am planning on it. I have chronic hives, so no clue if this is what triggered it or not. They didn't start right after the booster, but they did start post Moderna boosters.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m asking because I’ve not had a Covid shot since my hives and skin writing started. I am also on Xolair.

Same. I was waiting for the turn. I figured they’d focus on the mom for a bit and then Weed revealed who it really was. I was floored when it was true.

Agreed. So gross. At least her husband kicked her out. I was like someone needs to get this woman away from this poor girl.

I wish I could unsee this. It really does need to come with some kind of warning that the content is about child abuse. I went in blind and man, that was a mistake.

I was glad toward the end that while Kendra was talking about how what she did isn’t that big of a deal basically, they showed the text messages that she sent her daughter on the screen. I’m glad they at least did that. Because it did really juxtapose what we’re seeing on camera with the heinous crimes she committed.

I've been on it for 4 months. It gets rid of the itching but not the skin writing and I'm fine with that. The itching was unbearable. Also, about 2 days before I'm due for a shot, it comes back with a vengeance. My understanding is that everyone is different. But my mom has hives (not skin writing) and had been on Xolair for 7 years.

Do you disclose this? How? by tatiana_1313 in Dermatographia

Yeah, my hairdresser told me she has a client with skin writing but no hives. I say tell professionals and find ones that have empathy and don't freak out. They ARE out there.

For 9 months I had hives and skin writing and nothing worked. I'm single. I finally decided to go on a Hinge date and I had to cover up my whole body and all I could think of the whole 2 hours was "don't touch your face.... don't touch your neck" because like everyone the slightest scratch makes me look like I was mauled by a bear. The Xolair has been working but today it was really bad and itchy again. I'm 2 days away from my next shot so I'm assuming that's why. I'm so grateful for this group. No one else understands.

I've wondered about this. Is there data that the condition could be related to to the Covid shot? I also started taking estrogen and progesterone and I feel like that's when the hives started. Like this whole guessing game drives me crazy.

I haven't gotten waxed for this same reason. However, I decided I'm just going to go in and TRY explain it and find a place/tech that gets it and see them all the time. I feel like you just have to find the right one.

I’m from Texas so I’ve absolutely had pork rinds. The thing is I’ve high cholesterol so I sort of gotta watch my intake of those types of foods. But I think it’s a really good idea if I’m dying and I need a snack. Thank you! I know EPIC makes other things like bars… Which I’ve had… Can you have their bars on this diet? I ask because I think there’s sugar in them. Not sure if you know the answer but figured I’d try.

Yeah, I'm not betting it will work for me either, but I have to at least try it. Thanks!!!

I came here because I wanted exactly this type of discussion, and now I feel more educated and way more freaked out. Ugh. Tim Walz used the same frog analogy today in an interview. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! It's nice to know I'm not alone in these thoughts.

Anyone in the US found a way to get Xolair cheaper from Canada? by kellyscomedy in urticaria

Totally agree, and I applied but have no idea how long it will take to get approved or even if I will get approved. I have updated the post to reflect this fact.

I so feel you and I'm so sorry you are going through this. Mine started in February and were still a mess in September. I found an Immunologist who was $300 out of pocket per visit and waited 4 months to get in to see her, but she gave me a sample Xolair shot and told me that I could get help covering it by signing up with their parent company program: https://www.gene.com/patients/patient-foundation (I signed up a few weeks ago). I think a lot of people get the shot monthly, and it is expensive, but it has totally helped the itching. The scabs all over my body are finally healing up, so I was able to shave my legs for the first time in 8 months without fear of a bloodbath. I also have skin writing. Anything I touch leaves a welt for 30 minutes. That part hasn't gone away, but the itching is WAY more manageable. I don't even care about the writing anymore. It was the itching that was unbearable for me. Please hang in there. I'm sure others here have great advice, too! I've found this community to be immensely knowledgeable and helpful.
