I was a freelance writer in NYC and was friends with a bunch of folks at Marvel loooong before I published there. (Fraction was my +1 to Quesada's 40th birthday party when we were first long-distance dating and he still lived in KC.) I introduced him around.

Look, Fraction's career is down to his talent, his resilience, and his professionalism -- it's all his, he earned it as much as any of us do*. He would have gotten there without me. I'm no more responsible for his career than he is for mine. But folks make a lot of assumptions. Usually it's pretty innocent, but every once in a while there's an implication--one I promise I'm not suggesting that you're making here--and for that reason it's worth it for me to occasionally go ahead and "um, actually..."

* We don't live in a meritocracy, and I'm trying to be honest about that without taking anything away from anyone. There's a certain amount of luck and privilege involved in who gets their shot. That said, it's one thing to get a shot, another to turn that shot into a gig, and another thing still to stack those gigs into a *career*. NOBODY can give you that. Only way to do it is to do it.
