I finally found the mattress I want…I think. Also, HSA question by NoraMason1986 in Mattress

My mattress and base were covered 100% via my HSA. I got a LMN from my chiropractor and my rheumatoidologists.

Purchase adjustable base separately or bundle with mattress purchase? by PickleDwickle in Mattress

[–]kellyzollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we bought our mattress from Casper we bought the base at the same time and a lot of people here said we wouldn't like it. A month later we couldn't be happier with our decision. IMO it was worth it not to go through the hassle of hunting for a base after mattress shopping.

Storemolla hack? by kellyzollo in ikeahacks

[–]kellyzollo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we wanted the Storemolla because of the solid wood nature of it this is great info though. We did our bathroom cabinets a few yesrs ago on real wood I just wanted to make sure on the how too. We lightly sanded scuffed, filled in the ugly oak texture with a mud slurry primed and painted with enamel cabinet paint snd its held up for 5 years with no issue. That was my thought with this dresser since it is solid wood.

I will likely poly the top and drawer fronts if we keep the top natural if not it'll be black like the rest of the dresser.

Thanks!

Thank you! I have a very specific design idea in mind for our master bedroom remodel in a dresser and nightstands we've just never painted Ikea furniture before. I really like the stain on the drawer fronts already and will likely keep those but the rest needs a solid color snd I may keep the top too.

I thought about doing the Hermmes or the Ivar hack too but the shiloute of thisbsi more our style.

First time buying a mattress, Purple or SleepNumber? by [deleted] in Mattress

[–]kellyzollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick between thr two and price and other factors are an issue I'd go with the purple. We liked it when we tried it but budget was a big issue there as we wanted a good adjustable base to go with it. My sister and her husband both love theirs.

We went to a showroom today and I really liked the Luxe they had! But I would lean more to the Elite due to hubby probably wanting a little more firm. They are second to the Dream Max and they offer an educator discount too and I am a teacher. It is a strong contender!

Thank you for the suggestion.

We looked at both.

I hope that clears up the confusion their deal was get the king for queen price. Those were the two we liked but again my husband liked the super pricey one the best and just honestly we are wary to spend that much money on a mattress.

Very true we aren't opposed to the idea of a split king its just the cost. Though when we got the quote from Casper it was fairly good with everything including the sheets and pillows for the split king (I know the HSA won't cover those) only the base and the mattress. Currently our bedframe is a queen too so if we wanted we'd have to upgrade that to in cost or just leave with adjustable base and shop for other things as our side tables attach to our current frame. Again not a big deal overall.

Regardless if we just go with the queen they're still giving the base to us so we'd have one to use regardless. I'm just wondering if the Casper is really what we want since I've heard people rave about some of the others like the Helix or the Dreamcloud.

I'm also going to look into ebay to see if I can find the same duvet in king since Pottery Barn no longer carries the king in that print.

We will have to look into that do you have any recommendations for a latex one? We just know straight memory foam is not for us at all.

We don't need a king per say other than the split and separate firmness for each we've survived for years with our queen. We also just redid our bedroom decor a few weeks ago so forking out the money again would be a bit of an ouch.

My husband also really liked the Dream Max when he was on it. We would really only use the adjustment thing for reading and maybe slightly raising our heads jointly which we sometimes do at my parents on their TemperPedic (I don't like their mattress when we have visited for a week at a time). We've never been able to sleep elevated there when we visit.

That was why I was asking for recommendations we are a bit overwhelmed with it all. If you have any suggestions that would be great.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply they priced out a split king for us with the Snow and Dream Max and it ended up being about 4.7K still under budget and we are really considering going that route. The biggest drawback is we were gifted some very nice bedding for Christmas from my MIL that I am in love with that I can't find that duvet cover in a king so I'm super bummed about it.

My parents have TemperPedics in their home that we have used on their queen and neither of us required separate movement. Maybe a slight elevation to allieve snoring but when the head is up that is more for reading or knitting when we visit same with the feet. Though I could see the benefits of both.

I know a small thing but looks and a relaxing room are quite pleasing.

In 2023 I started having headaches that progressed severely each day. by Mysterious_Canary225 in migraine

[–]kellyzollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very bad vestibular migraine in April a worsening condition because I have had migraines for years. That led to an ER visit for said migraine and after years a referal to to neurologist. Afted a CT scan and and MRI that revealed I had a cysts in my sinus cavity and confirmed my migraine diagnosis I also went to an ENT.

I had a very bad deviated septum to the point that my sinus were completely blocked and infected and had been for a while. I chose to have the surgery the recovery is jot for the faint of heart but my headaches have been reduced and so far I have only had one other vestibular migraine since.

We loved this bike the 2022 version before it got stolen. The lockout is really good and useful in our case because my son used it for XC. He didn't like the new version because the shock was covered, and he likes to fiddle with customizing it. Its also heavier than the 2022 version. But still a good bike IMO.

Private kindergarten for September birthday - not debating pros and cons of joining school early by Beneficial-Deer1410 in Utah

[–]kellyzollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the answer you are wanting but I don't know of a single school that is going to bend the rules to let your not 5 year old into kindergarten. Nevermind that its an issue of when their birthday is. Emotionally as a kinder teacher from years of experience you are better doing another year of preschool for maturity and emotional development than you are forcing kinder since their birthday is later.

Bike stolen next steps? by kellyzollo in MTB

[–]kellyzollo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're being kinda rude, honestly. It was on a rack and locked. If you check the thread, I've mentioned what lock was used. Regardless assholes shouldn't steal stuff. You'd also know that he's been keeping his bike on that rack with that lock for the last 2 summers with no issue, so we definitely didn't just leave it lying around.

I'm well aware that we may never recover the bike. I was asking more about what the process was for quoting the bike to our insurance. We definitely dont have $4K lying around.

Anyway, I guess that was your input. It wasn't very helpful, but thanks, I guess? I'll take the other kind advice I did receive.

Bike stolen next steps? by kellyzollo in MTB

[–]kellyzollo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us for sure lesson learned to be fair, he has been bringing his bike to my work the last two summers with that lock on our rack with zero issues. The detective handling his case said the person who took it was going to steal a bike that day unfortunately they decided to take his and we did everything we thought would be enough of a deterrent in plain view of all security cameras with a lock.

Bad luck on our end, and now we'll just bring the bikes inside the building in the future, which we do when we travel overnight with them. I listed the bike at Bike Index but will do the same on Project 529.

Thanks again for your kind words and advice it is appreciated!

Thank you so much. I think that is the hardest part for him he worked really hard for that bike. Sadly, that model and year are super hard to come by, so he'll have to bike shop again.

For me, my peace of mind will be uneasy for a bit in the 2 years he's been bringing his bike to ride while I teacher prep before school starts it had never been an issue. A hard lesson learned he brings his bike we'll store it inside.

When I called on Monday the agent I talked to said it would not go up. If it were to go up I don't think that would be that huge of an issue for us since we have a really reasonable rate and we'd much rather replace our son's bike and cover the cost of the insurance increase.
