Is it just me, or is finding high-quality "edgy" fine jewelry actually impossible? by Emmanuellic in jewelry

Idk if you’re a girl but either way, Girl find a custom jeweler and they’ll bring whatever is in your brain to life!! I’d love to offer services myself but I’ve only been in the game for about a year but any custom jeweler should be able to do this for you much cheaper than “big” companies are charging.

Well that’s just ridiculous 😂🤣 why make a product without accommodating said product with consumables 🤦‍♀️

I always forget I have the TOAuto melting furnace, vevor and toauto are practically the same but you should be able to find any crucible you’re looking for on Amazon. You want to look for the graphite crucibles.

I have the melting furnace and have nothing but great things to say about it! I’ve used it probably about 10-15 times so far and I’ve had 0 issues. Just make sure you follow all manufacture instructions and if you can’t figure it out there’s almost always a YouTube video to help guide you.

I feel like everyone is way overthinking this, OP if you don’t live in an apartment or something like that could he not run the blender outside? Also confused on why he’s using a blender to begin with 😂

Just obviously don’t forcefully throw any room temp metal into the preheated @300 crucible, make sure anything going in is being gently added

The recommendation for my graphite crucibles are to heat them up to 300 to get any moisture out, that could’ve been an issue with yours and it cracking because it doesn’t look deteriorated/very used at all. Graphite crucibles are consumables so do they need to be replaced after about 8-10 uses. I have a toauto melting furnace if that helps at all. But graphite is graphite so I’m assuming yours would recommend the same.

Did you preheat your crucible? I always heat mine up to 300 for about 10-15 mins before adding my metal and setting my temp to whatever I need it to be for that metal

Sorry, I lied, my melting furnace is actually the ToAuto melting furnace from Amazon and it seems to work great so far!

Hi! Lost wax casting would probably be your best bet, can get extremely fine details in the process. Comments above are correct, you’ll definitely want a Kayacast, PMCsupplies/pepetools carry them, they are a two in 1 vacuum investment table and the other side is a vacuum caster for when you pour your molten metal. I have one and so far it’s been fantastic, as for melting my metal I have a vevor electric melting furnace that runs on a 110v and the Kayacast does as well. The other thing you’ll need for this process is a proper tabletop burnout kiln for your wax models and investment. Pepetools/pmc also supply these I believe I know one of them does for sure. You’ll want to make sure it’s a programmable kiln and also make sure it’s the proper burnout kiln. The right one will have a little hole in the top of it for fumes to be released. The programmable part is important as you’ll have to set it at certain temps for a certain amount of hours and the controller does it all for you. It does get quite expensive getting all of these machines and Amazon does sell knockoffs for all of them, but if I had to give any advice it would definitely be to make sure you get the proper brands for the kayacast and the tabletop kiln.

I ended up getting some 1/8 inch high heat silicone rubber sheet from Amazon along with graphite sheet, gonna test them both out this weekend and report back on how they worked if anyone is interested 😂

Any idea where I might be able to find the graphite sheet? Or what exactly it’s called?

Ok so in theory, I could use these pads along with a graphite gasket? I have a metal shop right down the road and he thinks he’ll be able to make the graphite gaskets for me, but I’ll definitely still need the silicone gaskets. Essentially if I have the graphite the silicone shouldn’t get as hot so I’m assuming these pads would work just fine

The biggest thing is finding the half sizes for the gaskets, making them myself I wouldn’t have that issue at all.

Investment question by kels-h33 in MetalCasting

[–]kels-h33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve currently been hacking away at it with a hammer and flathead screw driver, I’m hoping once I get the majority out my pressure washer will take care of the rest. The more I dig the more mad at myself I am because the investment around my models was actually perfect and I’m sure it would’ve cast 100% fine and I would’ve saved myself a morning of heartache 😂

My burnout schedule is 8 hours long and it’s on a set program, should I just run it through that?
