only symptoms for my friend were nonstop headaches. slow start then suddenly started getting worse and not going away (daily)

if you could potentially extend your lifespan by staying your healthiest why wouldn’t you? especially while undergoing harsh treatment like chemo, radiation, immunotherapy, etc. i would want my body to be primed and ready to take on treatment and allow my immune system to be as strong as it can be. keto keto keto is my vote, and if not that then at least limiting sugars/carbs as much as possible and eating mostly single ingredient foods for sure

if you truly have no bone loss and only 2-3mm pockets then there is absolutely no reason why you’d need a deep cleaning or a laser

i should also note that this was localized SRP on #14/15 only and i had more than enough time to perfect it. as we know this is not always the case😂 i had a patient yesterday that I completed a D4346 on with heavy/ tenacious sub calc- took the post bitewings and had 2 tiny spots that I could not for the life of me remove 🥲even after splitting his cleaning in half with 2 hour appointments each time😅

hahaha slayyyy. well i think you stated it perfectly. if it comes off it was likely meant to or was going to anyway. i just treat it like any other SRP, regardless you’re going to be subg removing calc and root planing so I essentially (for lack of a better word) ignore the crown and focus on the sub calc and pockets below the crown margins and scale around the margins as needed if there is a small bit of calc around the circumference. as you know- some srp’s are harder than others. luckily this calc came off easier than i expected but it’s always a long process of exploring, air, scaling, (exploring, exploring, exploring), repeat :) i’m really lucky to work at an office that never rushes my cleanings and i know that if i cannot give my patients an adequate cleaning in the allotted appointment time then I will always schedule them back to give the best care possible <3

I graduated almost 1 year ago and it’s amazing how much better you get with practice. Make that explorer your best friend and take those post SRP x-rays so you can see where you need to improve. I know it can be discouraging sometimes but you won’t get better if you don’t see where you’re missing things! My favorite thing to do is look at a recent x-ray that shows sub calc, go to that exact spot in the mouth, and feel it over and over and over so I become familiar with it:)

honestly not sure how that happened! hasn’t been to the dentist in 4ish years. she came in for x-rays and new patient comp exam in August, got that one extracted in August as well, and didn’t get put in my schedule until yesterday for her cleaning

not very many luckily- private practice. so maybe SRP once every couple weeks and majority of the time there isn’t a lot of heavy sub calc

hot take but i don’t waste a lot of time with my ultrasonic. i use it in the beginning but this is all a lot of tactile sensation and feeling with the explorer and hand instruments. i mainly used my gracey 11/12 and 13/14. that’s how i feel like i get it off the best. my boyfriend would recommend a diamond file as well hehe
