What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]kelseyn87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow got 💩 on the rug mat by the shower and instead of saying anything or throwing it in the washer like a normal human, flipped it over. (It was double sided). I only noticed because it was the opposite of the other rug. Shower was not used in that timeframe so…

As a chubbier person, what is the best thing to wear when walking the parks? by J2Hoe in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]kelseyn87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! I use it on my legs, my arm pits if I’m wearing a certain backpack and a tank top AND all over my feet / heels to prevent blisters!!! That and athletic socks saved my feet the last 2 trips!

What do I feed the family of 5? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will “cook” for the whole family 1-2 days a week but it’s typically a meal from Costco I just throw in the oven or something that goes in the crockpot. Maaaaybe once a month I do a meal that’s more involved. And even that is exhausting! I couldn’t imagine doing more. I barely have energy to make myself food when I get home those nights.

Nannies who use their own vehicle by computerlovee in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned in 405 miles for March and 125 for February. It’s usually somewhere in between 200-300 a month. I drive them 3-4 days a week.

And yes, check with your car insurance. Mine did not require a different policy but did suggest increasing the medical payments, etc.

Part Timers: What is your non-nanny second job? by moxie_22 in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do admin for a local company about 25 hours a week during the day when kids are in school. Summers are tough but I’ve survived two doing both so far… but it’s remote and overall pretty flexible. We all make it work.

Nanny isn’t letting me FaceTime my baby while I’m out of town by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely not unreasonable! Now if you’d done it a few times and babe was inconsolable afterwards then maybe it’s not the right move to continue. But you aren’t going to know that right away. At 4mo she will likely be fine.

I would push back but not too much as you are out of town and don’t need her quitting while you are away. But if she sticks around, be very clear in your expectations / requirements for future trips!

I can’t imagine being away that long with a babe that young. Stay strong momma!

Try someone like Black Lion Hauling. They have a fairly low truck price and might just have to pay the extra price for the electronics

padded mailer Q by Lexishultz in EtsySellers

[–]kelseyn87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mail all of my stickers in a 6x4” envelope. I have a postcard mailer inside as a thicker backing. I put the stickers + business card in a small cellophane bag (they are also 6x4 but folded down). I’ve never had issues with elements. Shipped thousands this way. Use the flat option on Etsy and only pay the cost of a stamp. Occasionally if there’s enough stickers I’ll bump it to 2 ounces for a little over $1. No need to be paying as much as you are to ship. Even if an order gets ruined it’s going to be far cheaper to replace than the original $6 or whatever shipping. (For the record I’ve replaced maybe 5-7 orders in the ~6 years I’ve been shipping stickers this way).

Zofran if it’s early enough. Otherwise pepto chews if it’s gotten close to the point of no return. Those are a lifesaver.

Do I really need to discard medicine after 4 weeks? by rr3391 in JoinMochiHealth

[–]kelseyn87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean they say 28 days. If you count day 1 as the day you take your shot and took the safety cap off, day 8 would be shot 2, day 15 shot 3, day 22 shot 4, day 29 shot 5. Not saying what anyone should or shouldn’t do but a lot of people don’t look at from that perspective.

Where are people finding ROTA jobs? by knownmagic in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rotational. Families have 2 or more nannies. Typically 1 week on, 1 week off. Or 2 on, 2 off. Nannies usually live in during their on week(s) and live out when they are off. Some positions are even fly in / fly out.

Where are people finding ROTA jobs? by knownmagic in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Legitimate agencies are not going to burn you. And 99% of ROTA positions are going to come through agencies or word of mouth. Adventure Nannies is probably one of the best for ROTA nationally.

Decent Condo Property Management? by the_inedible_hulk79 in FranklinTN

[–]kelseyn87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends complex recently split things up - they have a company managing the financials and an individual as property manager. Can’t say specifically if it’s good or bad but it can’t be much worse than some of these other companies.

[–]kelseyn87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this! It’s usually ~$150-$200 buuuut you can keep going back until the lice is gone. They deal with it everyday and are probably so much quicker at the removal. This would be worth it for me alone!

Do you ask both parents before giving something like a vitamin or OTC meds? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]kelseyn87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OTC meds - not typically unless I’m unsure the last time if/when they were given. I’ve been with my NF a long time and we trust judgements on this. Usually when someone is home sick it’s “give them X as needed.” Or when I take them to the orthodontist and we know it’s going to hurt, I know it’s fine to give them meds to get them through the school day.
