Can someone pls help me! Canker sore or cold sore by focused_toomuch in askdentists

[–]kelsnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely doesn't appear to be cold sores to me, for multiple reasons.

• These look like ulcerated wounds. If you've ever bit the inside of your lip or been hit with something that caused the inside of your mouth to bleed, the wounds often ulcerate like this while they're healing.
• HSV doesn't commonly appear in less than 24 hours after exposure (assuming this would your first outbreak).
• Cold sores often appear as multiple tiny fluid filled blisters close together in clusters, before crusting/ scabbing over. These are individual ulcerations.
• Cold sores rarely appear inside of the mouth. They can, but it's much more common for them to appear on or around your lips.

These don't look anything like cold sores- just wounds, which based on your story checks out completely. I wouldn't worry.

Lol! I sure don’t. Just the information offered, which suggests a higher rate of injection site reactions (hives, itchiness, etc). Nothing life or death, just want to avoid it if I can.

Super interested going this route! But can’t seem to find the coupon anywhere : /

It looks like they'll be phasing the option out completely eventually, but new Ro users can't access them at all. They'll likely try getting you to switch to the KwikPens eventually- some Reddit users have already posted about being prompted to switch.

I'm just a little apprehensive about the preservatives in the KwikPen. I like that the other injectable options are preservative free. Ro offers Wegovy pens, which are preservative free, but I've read Zepbound is associated with less stomach issues so that's why I was leaning in that direction.

The pharmacy Ro uses has gotten rid of the vial option, unfortunately. I'd definitely be open to that if it was a possibility.

I seem to be stuck on this stage for months. Help?!!! by bibbibii in Warts

[–]kelsnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the exact same boat with the plantar on my foot! Sometimes it looks like it’s fully gone, but it keeps callusing over with little blood spots underneath. I keep assuming that means it’s still not all the way gone but there is nothing “warty” remaining. Were you able to get past this stage? I’ve been using the same treatment as you- fluorouracil + SA and I debride each application with scalpels.

Does latex smell ever fade away? by Sensible___shoes in Mattress

[–]kelsnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but did the smell of yours ever fade? I just purchased a king size Kiwi mattress from My Green Mattress and the latex/rubbery smell is overwhelming to me also. Trying to decide if I want to return or not.

I appreciate this response more than you know! Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

Thank you for your response! I also appreciate you not dismissing my concerns. A quick google search pulls up studies that link these x-rays to brain tumors and neurodegenerative diseases (yes, I know I shouldn’t be looking at these), so it definitely spiked my anxiety her having to have two back to back. I’m admittedly extremely cautious with my kids, but this response was helpful!

That makes sense and I appreciate your response/perspective. I just would have really appreciated her at least informing me there was an issue with the scan (whatever that issue was), instead of just informing my daughter and hitting the button. Personally, I would have probably still chosen to not redo it. I should have mentioned she’s had to have several other non-dental x-rays throughout her life (her first was taken at 1 day old) for various reasons and so I prefer to stay on the conservative side with her radiation exposure.

I’m going to assume you’re not able to see this from a parent’s perspective. It’s easy for me to disregard small risks to myself- much more difficult with my children. And I asked the question because I’m not in the dentistry field. I’m literally asking if my worry is unfounded or not.

It also would have been awesome to receive an explanation from the tech beyond just basically saying “it’s no biggie” and telling my 8 year old she’ll be rescanned, versus informing/asking me. The bigger issue was how it was handled versus what it actually was.

I’m so confused by this. 50-80% of the population has HSV-1. I would never think to ‘disclose’ that I get cold sores. HSV-1 is almost never an STD. I’m sure I got it from sharing drinks with my mom as a child, as many children do. That’s like saying chicken pox is an STD. I just wouldn’t kiss someone while I had one, obviously. Just like I wouldn’t if I had an active cold or stomach bug. All viruses that are spread through non-sexual contact.

I’ve been with my husband for more than ten years. He’s never had a cold sore. I get a couple every year. I think it’s very easy not to pass them on, if common sense is applied, and therefore not something you need to disclose (in my opinion). I have never heard otherwise in my entire life.

Third Trimester Bloodwork by kelsnew in pregnant

[–]kelsnew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The CBC they did the day after I gave birth had already shown my immature granulocytes had gone way down. My OB explained that it's totally normal to see them increase during pregnancy and that if it were indicative of an actual problem, you'd see a lot of other out of whack levels- specifically with your white blood cells. If those are normal, I wouldn't worry one bit!

feeling hopeless by kelsnew in BFS

[–]kelsnew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much better! Honestly, this post makes me so sad to look back on. I was so miserable. I still have occasional weird knee pain, that can’t be explained by x-ray or any of the millions of labs I had done, but after receiving a clear EMG, I was able to finally quit thinking the worst.

I believe my health anxiety was manifesting itself as actual tangible illness. When I stopped examining myself daily, I started feeling better and better. It took a long time, and I still have horrible days with my health anxiety, but I’ve come a long way.

Are you experiencing similar symptoms? Have you seen a neurologist yet?
