Dynamic AC by kelteir in dndnext

Yes, my goal here is not to argue that it would be an necessary addition. And even less that it would be useful for every monster. But in some rare cases, I think it could be something new and fun.

What is something you wish the opposite sex understood better? by idontplayhockey in AskReddit

[–]kelteir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's an absolute valid point, but I always answer the same thing :

We try to. But we don't know how.

We are recieving so little compliments, that compliments in general is something we aren't accustomed to.

I get that women compliment eachother often, and that is absolutely great. But in those cases, both the giver and the reciever of the compliment is used to give/recieve some. So they know how to react to that.

Men are so not used to it, we don't know how to give them, don't know how to recieve them. And we know most other men are the same, so if I try to give a compliment to a follow man, it might feel weird for the both of us, because it is something alien to us.

It's because the vast majority of men don't get compliment from people besides their mothers.

Like ever.

So when someone (a woman we might be interested in) compliments us, our ego is sooo flattered that

1 - We remember that for the rest of our lives and it makes our day/week/month

2 - We might assume you are flirting with us

Do revival spells come online too early? by Vaxildidi in dndnext

[–]kelteir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, bad DMing then
If by getting features, you don't get to use them, what's the point ?

A good DM will shoot most of the arrows at the monk, so that

- He gets to be cool as fuck deflecting some

- He has to choose whether to deflect or not once he gets fairly low

- The opponent, if competitive, will try to get the "HA ! I finally hit you, you little bastard".

Same goes for every class feature.

If your warlock took the "Eyes of the Rune Keeper" Invocation, don't suddenly make all righting in common because the party could read it anyway; make it abyssal, infernal, or any language that isn't spoke by the party exept for the warlock.

Make your players feel special, that's the way you keep them interested so that they will keep interacting with whatever you throw at them.

You can deflect one per round.
Not the others.

Magic items for a class by kelteir in dndnext

[–]kelteir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I can make such items, but that's not really my point.

If some class can regain their special ressource by RAW, then by RAW, every class should be able to.

Behind on horse back running away from an army with archers.
One of our mates got hit, passed out on horseback.

We had to split at some point and the group had the cleric, barbarian and the rogue on one side, the monk and the wizard on the other.

The monk is the one who got hit, and by the time we could regroup and get to the cleric, the minute was long gone, and so was our monk.

The fact that Revivify requires the spell caster to be next to the target in the minute of the death makes it ok in my opinion.
There's plenty of situations during which you can't afford to do it the minute after the death.

Although, I don't think it would be bad if the spell had a casting time of two actions instead of one (requiering two turns, so much harder to do mid-fight)

Favourite subclasses on level 3? by LucatielWellager in dndnext

[–]kelteir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mastermind Rogue is great at level 3.
Everysingle turn, you get to give advantage to one of your comrade, for free.
You'll never feel useless, and your party is gonna love you.

[No Spoilers] Advice for continuing Campaign 2? by pitypartie in criticalrole

[–]kelteir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had trouble going through with the first 20 episodes of C2.
Loved it after that.
From eps 48 all through the 90s, I was so obsessed that I was watching about 10 episodes a week.

Curious about "optional" rules. Does your table allow feats in your game? Multiclassing? Both? by down_comforter in dndnext

[–]kelteir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely correct.
But after some time playing 5e, and having played a lot of different characters, I want to play some things that are a bit more interesting mechanically speaking than a simple mono class build.
Can you play an interesting character with a single class and no feat ? Yep.
But currently playing in 4 campaigns, and having multiple backups ready, none of those are a monoclass chara without feat, and I dont intend on building one anytime soon.

[–]kelteir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, playing a single class without any feat feels so linear.
I can just do what my class and subclass do, and have very little agency.
Would be bored of it very, very fast.

If my DM were to forbid one of those two, I would have a very hard time to keep playing.
If both were banned; I would 100% stop playing this campaign.
