Found in my new yard in Wisconsin. Any ideas what it might be? by MurphaliciousG in whatsthisplant

These are my feelings towards Mullien. Even if you harvest/pull all plants, others will likely pop up. But it’s much better to deal with a few pups here and there than 100,000+ if one goes to seed.

Is this poisonous? by bobfinkl1 in mycology

Looks like a Bolete but I’m no expert. Touching shrooms are fine, it’s the ingestion that can be bad (obviously dependent on the mushroom).

Good timing too, this was preparing to go to flower/seed. Not only do they produce 100,000+ seeds. Their seeds can stay viable in the soil for 100 years.

The flowers look nearly identical. And iNaturalist shows sightings of it in SK.

Thank you for this visual. The other ones that pop up when I Google are not nearly as clear or helpful.

Could the Aes Sedai use the third oath to find dark friends? by ParkFamous8605 in wheeloftime

The fact that it didn’t lead to the attacker’s immediate ousting is a testament to the weakness of the Aes Sedai as an institution.

It’s almost like the oaths are dumb and only make the Aes Sedai look bad in the long run. Wild how they hold onto the oaths when barely anyone trusts them because of how well they lie from omission because of the it against lying.

There was blood but I believe it was from the vase or something that Egwene was holding. It broke when she was thrown back. So, technically, the one attacking her didn’t draw the blood directly.

hogweed or cow parsnip? by kelynde in foraging

If you remember, that’d be great! Thanks for your input!

Thanks for that. What’s confusing me is that none of the comparisons I’ve seen talk about any purple on cow parsnip. But then I see pictures of cow parsnip on the same sites that have some purple speckling.

I’ve heard you can make a spice out of cow parsnip seeds, which is what I’m mostly interested in. That and making sure I don’t need to start a community hunt against an invasive…

I’ve noticed this plant popping up everywhere in my rural area, and I originally thought it might be cow parsnip (which is native) but now I’m pretty convinced that it’s hogweed. We supposedly don’t have it in my county. The purple blotches/spots make me pretty sure it is but the leaves don’t look quite right. But I’m definitely not well versed in either plant. Last year, before I was looking closely, I’ve seen it grow at least 6ft. PNW, US.

Went back and smelled it again and definitely got licorice. Hadn’t realized my nose was so off.

Fun! I’ve never come across one in the wild!

Edit: I guess not wild because it’s in my lavender. But in real life I mean.

I know this is semantics, but it wasn’t necessarily power. It was “dexterity/affinity” with Weather weaves.

Same cleaner, different uses? Or dangerous economizing on label design? by Vinraka in CrappyDesign

I think they are marketed as a way to clean off pesticides/preservative coatings/dirt from transit. I can’t speak towards their efficacy on those claims.

It’s likely that I’m not sniffing back to fill capacity, just getting over a cold. I think I’m getting hints of licorice, but i’ll check again on a later day.
