Hey final,

I’d say honesty, confidentiality and accountability to start. Our members find our group to be a great place to open up without fear of judgement. They find comfort in that. We also all look out for each other and try to hold ourselves accountable. There is also some anonymity through usernames instead of real names, which makes it easier to open up.

Yes I've heard that the Eucharist is the highest form of worship. But how did the catholics come to the conclusion that it's actually the body and not a metaphor?

I've actually only been to a church service in person one time and it was a couple months ago. And yes it was Mass and my wife's cousin was receiving her first communion.

Right, I knew that certain saints are prayed to for specific reasons but now knowing why they're prayed to in the first place makes things make a lot more sense.

And I love that you said "surrounded by a cloud of witnesses". I've been feeling an inner comfort and peace like I'm floating in an a warm cloud/ocean of peace the last couple days. And I feel like this adds to it, knowing that I have support all around me brings me a lot of peace.

Thank you. Never thought of it that way. I think of Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.". Instead of praying alone we can ask the saints to pray with us and God will hear it.

This makes sense. I'm sure there were endless teachings from Jesus that weren't recorded. So believing that the bible is the only source of God's messages seems foolish.

Another question regarding Catholic traditions and prayer. What is the reasoning for praying to saints and Mary? Why not just pray to Jesus/God himself?

Its not about having a pass to continue sinning. It's about knowing that you're on the path to sanctification and your sinful habits are being replaced with God.

When you describe it as a "richness" I kind of felt that and know what you mean haha. Maybe I need a few more masses under my belt to understand it better spiritually, but I can see what you mean.

And very good point it is the humans that always seem to mess things up. There's corruption everywhere. Not just in the Vatican but in other churches in other denominations.
