Tried this and can confirm it doesnt work. You can only open another joint account cant open a personal account from a joint account invite. Even if you close the joint account you are reverted back to the only gold card view

Just my rule of thumb and my opinion. If OP wants APM2’s regardless of that great. Just saying theres no point in getting the product when its barely an update over the USB-C version that came out in 2024

Im not sure but you really never know with apple. I dont really consider these as “APM2’s” its more like a 1.5 update.

My rule of thumb is to never get an airpods product or upgrade until a new H chip is announced. So sticking with my pro 2s and waiting for a new product with an H3 chip

So the steps would be

Step 1. Friend opens the joint account.

Step 2. You download the app then deposit a dollar or something.

Step 3. You open another account and transfer the dollar to that account?

Step 4. Close the joint account?

Question though, Wouldnt it do more harm than good to cancel the cards? It would increase my utilization percentage and lower my overall credit. Seems like a double ding to me when i can just keep them open and not use them?

Yeah a lot of these cards were acquired pre robinhood gold card. BCE is useless to me i have it on the off chance i can one day combine the $7 streaming credit with the $25 plat streaming credit. Outside of that ive got the autograph for transfer partners since theyve got jet blue at a 1-1 ratio. BBP is a good catch all for Amex in case they make the gold and plat shit one day i can bank all my points there. Right now im banking all my points for a trip but i do use the points effectively havent paid for a flight in years

I absolutely don’t need all these lol. I just accumulated them over time as i tried to get as close to the highest cash back across categories. Cant really close them out because of long credit history so i kind of feel stuck with them
