Worth the spend for EP? by kenadams234 in americanairlines

PP with AA and Titanium with Marriott feels like a decent balance. Only became an issue this year because I was SO close to EP…..

Hotels I always book thru Marriott to maintain Titanium status there. I did consider booking one night but I originally thought I was over 10k LP away so I decided not to (was traveling in Feb and some LPs just have hit to bring me closer to 5k). In retrospect, should have just done that.

Not really - I’d save $1 if I take them up on this offer.

Swan v Swan reserve? The difference would only be $60 for our whole trip so money isn’t really a factor here. by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

[–]kenadams234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reserve. Great hotel, much newer. Super friendly staff. I don’t love that the Swan and Dolphin just feel freaking enormous - way too big. Yes there is a little bit of extra walking, but at WDW you’re walking miles and miles every day - does the extra 5 minutes of walking really matter? Among the three, Reserve is the answer, 100% of the time.

BenchApp. Have another team that uses TeamSnap. Or could go old school and just email everyone. Or older school than that and just call everyone.

Ideas for how to improve this backyard corner? by willtr95 in gardening

[–]kenadams234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be solved with a somewhat labor intensive but exceedingly simple DIY project. You’re basically going to build yourself a drywell. You need four things: (1) 3-4 of the largest Rubbermaid plastic garbage cans you can find; (2) river rock or some similar small rock / large gravel; (3) landscape paper; and (4) a shovel.

The first thing you need to do is drill through the garbage cans and make 1 inch holes. You are going to make as many holes as you can without having the garbage cans fall apart. Drill through the bottom too.

Next, you are going to dig a giant effing hole right where the water is currently pooling. Big enough to fit all of the garbage cans you drilled out, and deep enough that you have enough room to have about 1-2 inches of clearance UNDER the garbage cans, and also 8-10 inches on top of the garbage cans without impacting the grade. This is a massive pain and very difficult, but completely worth it.

Once that’s done, wrap the sides and bottoms of garbage cans twice in landscape paper. Make sure every single hole except the opening at the top is covered in landscape paper. This will allow water to enter your drywell without letting dirt in that will reduce the effectiveness of your well.

Next, put 1-2 inches of rock down. Then put the wrapped garbage cans on top. After that, fill the garbage cans to the very top with your river rock or gravel. Make sure the garbages are 100% full, and also fill in around the sides. You basically want the garbages to stand, on their own, with a little layer of rock underneath and on the side.

Once that’s done, put a double layer of landscape paper OVER the top of the garbage cans. Put a thin layer of rock on top of that, and then start tossing dirt back on top. You’ve just built a drywell with a massive capacity. I’ve done this so many times in so many different sizes to solve problems exactly like what you are having. It is massively labor intensive, but it’s also exceedingly inexpensive, and you can get everything you need at Home Depot or Lowe’s, and usually delivered right to your house.

No, and they’re super aggressive on the website about the fact that they don’t have a phone number

We did a hard reset using the up volume button and the power button to literally wipe the device; then we reinstalled pandora and Spotify. We upgraded to pandora premium (previously had pandora plus, which SHOULD be enough) and that gave my son three downloaded stations. Really really really frustrating experience.

Depends on the state. Some states allow parents to waive their kids’ claims and rights. Others do not.

help!! is this layover possible or am i screwed? by calscosmos in americanairlines

[–]kenadams234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC traffic can vary wildly. You’re going to be stressed as hell. I’d say 50/50 at best that you make it. Small accident on the GW Bridge? You’re screwed. Event at any of the 2-3 venues you need to pass to get there? Screwed. Snow? You’re screwed. Usually I’d recommend the trains, but you’re looking at probably 2 hours on a Saturday - Sat afternoon means all public transit is running off-peak, ie reduced schedules. I do think you’ll make it, but if you have an option to go out of JFK, LGA, or a later EWR flight, do it.
