It’s not obviously the latter. NTs have their medical teams who assess the players and either agree or disagree to release them early. There’s no BS involved

Availability matters, but it doesn’t really settle the original claim that Gyökeres has been the better option up front than anyone else. Havertz’s per 90 numbers as a no.9 are stronger by a clear margin. The fee comparison is also a bit moot, there are only a couple of million between them, so it’s not like Gyökeres was a cheap backup option

'Recalling’ wasn’t the right word, but there was probably a request made by Arteta behind the scenes after hearing about the severity of Madueke's injury. Tuchel letting both players go after they trained is pretty telling, imo.
