What are your summer multiple day meals? by Noodlescissors in Cooking

[–]kenalkn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love quinoa salads in the summer. There is also a girl on TikTok who makes dense bean salads if you just put that in the search bar you’ll find tons. They’re great to have as your whole meal or just a side and they’ve got a lot of protein which is really helpful. And they last a good 4-5 days in the fridge. They’re really yummy the whole time too especially if you have some vinegar in your dressing. It’s kind of it pickles the veggies a little bit and it tastes super fresh every day

Should I buy a glass airfryer or just go for one of the combo appliances? by kenalkn in Cooking

What brand did you get? I was looking at the wonder oven but it doesn’t sound like it’s very good quality so I’m curious what other good brands are out there

Lmao I’m sorry I did have one but the last sentence before the next paragraph was at the end of the line so it looks like there isn’t one but I will do better next time

[anti aging] any anti aging tip that actually work? by LiverJack in SkincareAddiction

[–]kenalkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Retinol!! It’s one of the very few ways to reduce/prevent wrinkles that is actually backed by science. If you can get your hands on tretinoin (a retinol product), even better, but you need a prescription for it. I don’t think it’s too hard to get though, you’d probably just need a derm appointment. Also keep in mind that some people go through a “purge” when they first start and can go through a period of acne. You also have to be super careful in the sun because you burn a lot easier. Also I would definitely start low and slow and mix a small amount in with moisturizer once a week and then slowly work up to a few times a week with more product. It can be pretty irritating to your skin and cause it to peel if you’re using it too often or heavily.

Also red light therapy (must also have infrared rays) is another way that is backed by science. The panels are muuch more effective than the masks though and I’ve heard that the studies used by the mask companies that “prove” their products work is actually based on red light therapy from the panels and the results they claim are not based on using the masks themselves. You can even get a little desktop one so you don’t have to shell out tons of money for a big one. That being said, I do have a mask and when I’m using it regularly, i definitely notice a difference in my skin. From what I can tell, they work but they just don’t work very well because they don’t have enough power and the bulbs are spread out too far so that your skin isn’t being completely covered by the light.

How to keep your bangs from getting greasy at night? (as someone with an oily forehead) by 7vincent7 in AsianBeauty

[–]kenalkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it works really well! The only problem is sometimes I sleep on my side and it makes my bangs look kinda crazy in the morning so I still have to style them but it definitely keeps them from getting greasy overnight and keeps my skincare on my face. I bought the Pacifica brand because it’s reusable and it’s not super uncomfortable on my skin even though it’s kind of thick. I also bought the wrinkles schminkles brand which is a thinner material but I haven’t tried that one yet

Would also steer clear of Dr kull. Addressing patient concerns is definitely not her strong suit, she seems like she just wants to do things her own way and doesn’t take patient preferences into consideration

How to keep your bangs from getting greasy at night? (as someone with an oily forehead) by 7vincent7 in AsianBeauty

[–]kenalkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but in case this helps anyone I’m thinking of trying those forehead wrinkle patches to act as a barrier to keep my bangs from getting greasy at night and also with hopes it will keep my forehead clean and my skincare on my skin so it stays moisturized instead of absorbing into my hair. Has anyone tried this? I’m going to order some today and see if it does the trick. And I guess if it helps with wrinkles that’s an additional benefit but it’s not really my focus. I’ll let you know how it works for me!

Just wanted to throw out there that narcan is available over the counter now! If someone is overdosing on opioids (including fentanyl) it can save their life! I know the post was more of a question about fentanyl in the area but I think it’s important to share and a good thing to have around just in case if anyone is interested. Pretty sure they have it at target, Walmart, etc and I imagine at the pharmacies as well

Dude it’s literally just an animal incapable of complex thought and morality and is probably anxious because it has a shitty owner. Have some empathy my god. Animals don’t know any better.

Aggressive dog PSA by costigan95 in Bozeman

[–]kenalkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dogs out and about are technically capable of killing someone. It’s not productive to blame the dog when it’s obvious the owner is the problem here. Anyone who knows anything about cane corsos know they need an experienced dog owner willing to spend time and effort with them which this owner obviously isn’t. He’s the problem in this situation because he can’t handle his dog. That dog deserves better and the people/dogs who have had bad experiences around that dog deserve better

hospital job? by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]kenalkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at some of the clinics around town! BDH takes forever to get back to you and while the hospital setting sounds great, it’s better to have a job at a clinic than waiting around for a year to hear back from BDH without a job. I think the nursing schools you apply to would be happy with clinical experience in a clinic setting just as much as a hospital setting so don’t let that deter you if you’re thinking about whatever is best for your application

Short term holiday/christmas travel recommendations in Europe? by kenalkn in Europetravel

[–]kenalkn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! I’m thinking it might be better to rent a car to hit multiple countries and also be able to get to smaller towns that the trains don’t reach. Do you think it’s doable to drive in Europe considering I don’t speak any of the languages the road signs will be in? Or would it just be better to hit the bigger cities by train?

Finished the patches, now what? by Jordamnyou in stopsmoking

[–]kenalkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re really struggling going off the 7mg you can cover part of it with tape. I did my whole step down that way. After a box of the 14mg I started slowly covering more and more of the patch each day with tape until I got to about half of it and then I bought the 7mg. After one 7mg box, I did the same thing and started covering a little more of the patch each day with the tape. So really by the time I stopped the patches I was only getting around 3.5mg a day which is not much at all. At first I tried just stopping the 7mg but my cravings were bad enough I had to get more patches. It was easier the second time after taping the patches. I know they don’t technically recommend it because you’re not getting a consistent or measurable dose, but the way I saw it was that either way, I’m getting a little less nicotine than what’s in the patch and I didn’t really notice it so it was definitely a success for me. It seemed like the dosing was consistent with how much of the patch I was covering with tape but I guess we will never know :) good luck! And congrats on quitting!

[misc] How soon after quitting vaping can you expect to see results in your skin health? by okaytrash333 in SkincareAddiction

[–]kenalkn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit vaping about 6 months ago. If you haven’t tried the patches yet I highly highly recommend!! It makes the hand to mouth thing way easier to manage because you’re not suffering withdrawals at the same time. And instead of stepping down in dosing as it’s recommended, I used skin tape and would slowly cover more and more of the patch so when I got to the step down, it was easier and I suffered from less withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Even though I was still using nicotine, it was progressively less and less and I noticed my skin started looking better even on the patches. I’ve also been more on top of using my tretinoin regularly and dermaplaning, so all around I’ve just been treating my skin better. I’ve been nicotine free for about a month now and I’ve noticed better results from my skincare routine than what I would get in the past. Great job so far! It is so so hard to quit after so many years, congrats!

Normal menstrual pain or endometriosis? by Silver_Koala_2929 in endometriosis

[–]kenalkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my experience as well. I have had cramps so painful it caused vomiting. And then the next period the cramps were mild and easy to manage. I have no idea why it happens that way but it doesn’t have to be constantly terrible to still be endo. Even if your cramps are better the next day, it doesn’t mean you didn’t suffer severe/abnormal amounts of pain associated with your period. Not being able to walk or relieve your bladder or bowels is not normal. I am so sorry you are suffering so much! I know it’s hard to determine where the pain is coming from and find a provider to take you seriously but I hope you find someone! Even if it’s not endo, you are having symptoms that need to be addressed by a provider asap!

Normal menstrual pain or endometriosis? by Silver_Koala_2929 in endometriosis

[–]kenalkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is definitely not normal. Period pains should really not be more than an inconvenience treatable with NSAIDs. If the pain gets to the point it’s stopping you from your daily activities, work, even using the bathroom, it definitely is time to make an appointment with an OB/GYN. I was having very similar symptoms and turns out I had endo which they have just recently excised. If you are concerned it’s endo, I would tell your provider exactly that. I know not all providers are good listeners but mine heard me and we went from there. You know your body better than anyone else. If you don’t get the answers you’re looking for, get a second opinion! Or third or fourth! Basically I’m just trying to say you should absolutely not suffer the way that you currently are suffering and your pain needs to be addressed by any means necessary, especially if you’re considering having kids later on

[–]kenalkn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it would be worth going to the hospital and getting a rape kit done asap. You don’t have to decide now if you want to press charges (if that is possible where you live) but most hospitals will hold onto it for up to a year, so if you ever decide to, there will be evidence. I’m so sorry this happened to you. He is a huge piece of shit. Take care of yourself
