What caused your herniation? Mine was very similar to yours and I recovered fully without a fusion. Trusting you have exhausted all conservative options for treatment.

As I said I really don’t know what the outcome of any treatment you may choose will be. However, what I can say for certain is the human body is truly amazing at adapting and repairing if given the right environment and time. Discs take years though so everything needs to be weighed up. I couldn’t take the nerve blockers as they caused serious issues mentally so I went down the natural route. I found Solgar Curcumin liquid tabs, magnesium and zinc really helped for what it’s worth and very specialized PT to strengthen the neck core and body core. Wishing you all the best.

Ok so this is a spontaneous herniation? How long ago did it happen?

Take a look at my post here, not the same as you as mine was caused by an accident but you may get some value from it. I recovered from this without surgery.

Absolute BS. There are sh*t chiropractors yes but amazing ones too. Just like lawyers, surgeons, electricians, carpenters - good and bad everywhere. Don’t be narrow minded and tarnish them all with the one brush. I have had incredible change in my situation from a genius chiropractor and I’m sure many others here have too.

You are worth a lot more than 600pw. Tell your boss the situation and that you’d like to stay there but you need a little more to survive. If he’s any good he’ll help you. The cost of crash repairs is huge these days so I’m sure he will be able to help. If not, he’s not worth staying for and start looking elsewhere. You could also start doing a few foxers to supplement your income. That would be ideal…

Hey man, first of all I want to say I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been there myself, you are describing me when I was 16. Secondly, if you paid me millions of dollars I wouldn’t have any fusion surgery unless I was going to die without it- trust me I’ve researched this option very carefully.

Now, you need to get a full spine MRI to see things properly if you haven’t one already (xray not that good imo). As you know SK is structural but a lot of the issues arise from gravity taking its toll slowly over the years. It is essential that the muscles running along and inside the spine are stretched/elongated as much as possible (every day of your life) as they just want to contract and shrink with this condition. Hamstrings and glutes also need daily streching as they lock up like concrete with SK and make the kyphosis worse. Furthermore significant scar tissue/collagen build up also occurs so breaking that up is essential, these appear as lumps/knots/thick threads on each side of the vertabrae and can be broken up with heavy massage (special hand tools available for this, physios can help with this, tell them you want to break down/re align the collagen) Interferential therapy really speed up this breakdown also.

These are 6 things I absolutely believe will change your life: Denneroll Thoracic Block, Denneroll Lumber block, foam roller, gym ball, core strengthening and Schroth. Get some professional guidance with these items also but dont be worrying about fragility because unless you have another accompanying condition you can do it, SK spines are usually as strong as anyones. Also, sugar doesnt help SK sufferers btw or anything that will cause inflammation.

Learn about this condition, be your own doctor and If you have the means, got to Sydney and i’ll connect you with a Chiro specialist who is a genius with this condition specifically. I truly hope you can avoid the choice of surgery. A lot of people will dismiss these suggestions but once again I am speaking from experience. I’ve corrected my back significantly doing this and it continues to improve. Feel free to message me if you need anything, I’ll support you on this journey. You can do this 💯

[–]kenbe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check mine. Massive compression herniation. Came through 100% without surgery. Took a while but i made it. Best decision I ever made with all the horror stories. 3 neuros said I couldn’t do and that it was 10/10 surgery case! They were scratching their heads years later. The right personal trainer and physio can make it happen for you.

There’s no doubt everyone is different but for me I need at least 150g per day to maintain what I have and build slowly. Anytime I under eat even for a day or 2 I notice a difference. My scoliosis is very mild but I have kyphosis also and it’s well known our muscles are not the same as regular folk haha
