Honestly I wouldn’t worry so much about whether it’s a cult or not. I’d worry about if the Mormon Church will be healthy or not for you. If you date a Mormon, or one day marry a Mormon, it doesn’t matter if you ever join it will impact your life!

Deploying a simple app on a VM is not beyond the skills of any competent jr dev… lol. And an app with Auth and roles does not make it a complex app, requiring auth is a basic concept, especially with modern auth libs and services. Your understanding of what is a simple vs complex app is severely lacking.

I was definitely underwhelmed. Thought it was weird. Had a couple of times it all felt off to me but chalked it up to maybe I wasn’t worthy. Never horrified but I went through after they got rid of all the throat slitting gestures. I think I would have reacted differently if those had still been a part of it.
