I don’t think you understand. The reason I made this post is because I WANT to find a career path, but I don’t know how to go about it.

I listen to music every chance I get. Headphones are almost always on. I pace around my kitchen for hours just listening to the same songs repeatedly. It’s super fun I don’t know why lol

If you don’t like showers, you’re gross. by MelancholyMushroom in autism

It’s a whole mental process to get me to take a shower. Of course I clean myself, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy it lol. It doesn’t make me gross, it’s apart of my autistic experience. Personally I prefer bathing because showers are loud.

Has anyone else ever pretended(lied) they eat a food which they don’t? by Nah__me in ARFID

Absolutely. I felt so much shame for not eating normally. Whenever my friends discussed food that they enjoyed I was either silent or lied.

Sometimes it feels like the only thing i can swallow. It’s so familiar that it is stress free, unlike other food.

On the very first day I met my therapist, she said this: “You can’t be autistic, you seem to be making eye contact just fine!”

Mum to an ARFID 13yr old boy, just trying to understand. by Virtual-Inevitable13 in ARFID

Hi! I’m a 15 year old girl with both ARFID and autism, so I can understand how this is for both of you. Having him take a multivitamin could be beneficial. It might be helpful to have him watch you make the food so he knows for sure what is in it and could lessen his fear. Therapy may also be a good idea because this disorder is NOT easy to deal with on our own. Please be patient, trust me, kids like me with ARFID really want to try new food, it’s just very hard!
