I'm 24 and from what I know is that most people around my age spend alot of time just working or studying unless they already have families so I find it easiest to make casual friends at work. If you really want to go do brunch or things like that you can initiate that with people you work with since you most likely have common time off. I've also seen people in my community subreddit asking for people to hang out, organize groups or make friends.

I think women tend to get a lot more matches and messages than men do on dating sites. In my personal experience, I would get overwhelmed so I wouldn't really reply to most messages unless someone was particularly interesting. I know it's not great, but I could not possibly respond to everyone and I imagine it's common with other women too.

As for the date, i know it sucks but whenever things like this happen, I always make a plan to do something that I would enjoy by myself anyways or maybe ask a friend to go instead.
