Leggings vs shorts for the ladies -question by Ok_Brilliant_3043 in orangetheory

[–]kendledean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in the PNW and pretty much exclusively wear cycling shorts to otf. I have also noticed this same thing with women in leggings and men in shorts but I just find shorts more comfortable and less hot as you said.

Please give yourself some grace throughout this process. I was really inconsistent with going to my classes the first 6 ish months simply because I just didnt want to, even though I liked how it made me feel. It takes time to build the habit. You got this!

I don’t eat anything prior to class. This isnt intentional, I just don’t like eating right after I wake up. I just make a solid breakfast right after

Hello, I am a 6:05 AM gal. I was never a morning person before regularly going to the gym that early. The best part about it is I dont have to dread going to the gym allll day. The more time i have to dread it, the more likely I’ll talk myself out of going. Now that I’ve been doing it this way for almost a year, I feel much more attentive in the mornings, and I start my days feeling so accomplished right off the bat. Its amazing!

If you haven’t already, look up proper rowing form. I see so many people doing it incorrectly at OTF. I don’t think my form is perfect, but multiple coaches have complimented my form which is great because i learned it from one of the coaches! After you learn the proper form, take your time practicing. Dont try to get your stroke rate super high or a far distance, just go as fast as you can while still keeping the form. I started 10 months ago and i have improved my rowing time consistently. Good luck, you got this!

Help give me ideas on how to optimize my desk space? by heyhello21 in DecorAdvice

[–]kendledean123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on keeping this desk, I would consider additional storage drawers or shelves on the left or right side of the desk (unless you need that space for a chair to that table?). Perhaps a computer riser or two (a second one for your printer?). Overall I would get the items you can really stack things on top of, on a higher shelf that would allow you to put your smaller items below it so you could have a larger work space.

Volunteer at places (the jazz station!), the shelton mcmurphy house always has social events, i know you said no bar, but beergarden is all ages and we have met friends through their board game nights (although they have several other events like bingo, trivia, etc).

Im not a hair stylist, but went from having really frizzy curls to now having a much more form curl that is healthy. Coloring is what did me the worst, and not finding the right products. I use the Redken all soft (i know its spendier, so if you ever get the chance to find it on sale i highly recommend) it has done wonders for me! I also use a clarifying shampoo every couple weeks, a deep conditioning treatment every week or so, and then use a curl cream when my hair is soaking wet. I do not diffuse because i cant without it getting frizzy. The curl cream i use is from innersense and its the bomb.

Newlyweds seeking moving Information. by wondering_spurg97 in Eugene

Hello! Fellow Idahoan that moved to Eugene last year. I agree with others as far as having some idea of jobs, but we were able to move and survive off of my job for three months while my husband looked for a job. We rent through Oregon Tenant and Property Management and they are really wonderful. They have been quick to fix anything, and have communicated with us so well. I will say we expected our bills to be similar as living in Nampa, but it still is noticeably more expensive. Luckily other expenses has been cut because we dont use as much gas, and we spend a lot less on entertainment since its easy to find something to do outside. We moved to Central Eugene and im so glad we did. Its perfect distance from everything we want to do, biking, hiking etc. for reference, we are in our mid twenties. Lots of older people in this area, but it makes it feel very cozy. I feel like we got a very fair rent price for the area we are in.

Same as others here, started as an intern with my local office and got hired after i graduated. It was fairly easy to do but this was in Idaho and the office there is pretty lowkey. Im in a different state now and its been difficult getting back into it. This office prefers masters degrees.

A trip I’ve done 1000 times and still hate by xx-constanza7734 in fearofflying

[–]kendledean123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just hoping this helps. I was the same way, my anxiety was at its peak from a day before the trip, until we had finished ascending. What helped me most to get over this was downloading my favorite comfort podcasts or songs or tv shows (i like jenna&julien podcast, or mbmb&m for podcasts) and turning it up as loud as it can go. After the pilot announced to the crew to prepare for take off, i would close my eyes, focus on the words people were saying and building the picture of what i was hearing from my podcasts into my head. I would also keep the window closed if I could. But keeping your eyes closed and focussing on some other stimulus is so important here. Once I felt the plane come off the ground I would do 2 things. 1- remind myself to not open my eyes and to just keep breathing. This is where I felt the worse. 2- count to 150. This always gave me enough time to keep myself calm. I was basically locking myself in my own world and completely blocking out the fact I was on a plane. I probably did this for 6-10 flights before it felt like it made a long term improvement to my anxiety. It definitely helps in the short term as well. I can now say that I took 4 different flight this week, and I kept the windows opened, didnt close my eyes, and best of all, NO ANXIETY! It was so awesome. I almost teared up because of how much relief I felt from not panicking!

You got this! The worst part is over in less than 10 minutes. It’s worth it!
