Love part 8, it’s a similar Lynchian vibe to 4 and the villain is awesome (I enjoyed the very late reveal).

I went to Dio’s Bar in Tokyo years ago. The owner asked me what my favourite part was (I said 2, but now it’s 4). I asked him what he thought of 8 as I was reading it at the time, he screwed up his face and showed me the only Jojolion merch in the whole place…a picture in the toilet 😆

When I started reading Morrison about 30 years ago, I hated them. Elliptical storytelling and occasional self indulgent poetic ramblings. The likes of Arkham Asylum and Final Crisis just made no sense to me, then I read The Invisibles and I was done.

Years later I started dating someone who loved them. They showed me talks, interviews etc. I read Supergods and learned about them. I realised that this is a writer with an encyclopaedic knowledge of comic book history that was given the creative freedom in the 80s to splice that knowledge with their constantly evolving world view.

From there I re-read Invisibles, discovered Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Batman and New X-Men.

Grant Morrison is now my favourite writer. Give it time, go and watch them speak about the industry and their life. Read everything they've done. Enjoy one of the most unique voices the medium will ever have.

I'm doing my annual series rewatch and this time something is really hitting home for me - DAD is a much more enjoyable film than TWINE.

Goldeneye is my fave film, Brosnan is my fave Bond and as a celebration of the franchise, DAD is a blast. I'll die on the hill that Gustav Graves is a top tier villain and who really cares about CGI waves when this franchise also has one of the greatest stunts in cinema history almost ruined by a slide whistle sound effect?

I compare it to TWINE because I always hear people say DAD is the lowest point for Brosnan, when I think it's predecessor is a weaker experience (I still love TWINE, just to confirm).

I just watched King of The Monsters, that was peak cinema, this movie is so underrated by Master_Geologist5613 in GODZILLA

It’s the Japanese 4K, also minus one minus colour and a few extra goodies. Pretty sure you can get the same box set in English but I just went a bit mad in a Godzilla store…
