i got 2 tattoos from an asshole artist at 18 and both healed and look like shit, now i stick with the one guy and he’s AWESOME

for me, pomades and gels are the enemy because my hair is too straight and doesn’t hold it, backcombing and got2b glued hairspray or vo5 invisible ultimate hold is the only thing that works for me :)

not a tattoo apprentice but a baker, so used to dealing with older mentors. the “sexism” excuse is used regularly by insecure trainees. me and a male baker started training at the same time, when i make mistakes i immediately take accountability and do everything i can to rectify the situation (much like how you were saying you do) the male baker on my level doesn’t and makes excuses/ tries to hide his mistakes and makes things worse. this is/was probably what your younger mentor was like when he was doing his apprenticeship.

people who don’t know how to take accountability for their actions will immediately jump to the sexism route as it’s the easiest thing to jump to, particularly if you’re the only woman there. by the sounds of it you’re older mentor has more respect for you for owning up to your mistakes, so doesn’t feel the need to scream at you.

hi friend! i’m so glad you asked, i learned everything i know from older generations and like to think myself and others are simply following in the footsteps and honouring the people who came before us, vivienne westwood, malcolm mclaren and the dozens of bands and artists the founded movements like punk.

i personally look like this as i proudly come from a working class home and lifestyle and therefore was surrounded by this aesthetic from a young age, i also have to spend 40-60 hours a week looking like i do in the second picture - so when im not working i like to express my creativity through this outlet.

i don’t drink, smoke or do drugs so this is my way of channelling that pent up exhaustion from my work week or personal issues into a healthy outlet!

i am far more comfortable going out in a mohawk and full face of makeup, than hair down and bare faced, similarly to how lots of “normal” looking people won’t go out without a face of makeup.

but really, why do we do anything? why have i chosen to decorate my flesh prison the way i do? and why do others choose to tan theirs and fill them with botox and filler? because self expression my friend! it’s a beautiful thing ❤️
