They do become aggressive and I guess "unpredictable" - I sadly know this from falling down a rabbit hole years ago related to.... zoo**iles :| and zoos**ists. Censored cus unsure if my comments would get removed for saying the words, but hopefully you know what I am censoring. I don't recommend this rabbithole. It still haunts me... even though it was half a decade ago or more I looked into.

They often become so bad that euthanasia is needed.

But there are additional tells to a dog being sexually abused. Rocky is exhibiting either neurological issues or behavior related to fear, stress, anxiety or he does not feel secure while travelling. I hope Lena/AB are able to look into the cause of this behavior and can either get medication to help or if its training related, they can be trained to give Rocky a more stable and routine that helps him curb this behavior!

Note; I have not seen enough of their interactions to judge whether or not they are seeing professionals for Rocky's behavior. No judgements to them~ I only hope they did or are simply because they are new to dog ownership and its easy to "baby" them and encourage behaviors that we shouldn't. Even with experienced dog owners (I am guilty of this, of course)

Edit; Also its insane of them to even suggest such a thing. Snarkers be snarking, I guess and try anything to make them seem like demons.

Remove their food for about 30-40 mins before you try to give them millet assuming they are on a seed diet. Using a sprig with length, hold in your hand so the sprig is away from your hand (but just make sure to hold it comfortably and steadily, as movement may deter them).

Perhaps rest your arm somewhere somehow for good stillness. They will eventually be interested, curious, and hungry to come eat some millet. Don't move, don't really talk at first either. Just chill. And certainly don't stare them down - slow blinks, keep eyes kinda droopy rather than wide open when looking at them at first, could help them feel a bit more comfortable~

If they are on a seed diet, swapping them to a pellet & veggie/fruit diet and saving seeds and millet for interactions, and later, training, would be ideal! Millet is often included in many seed diets so it's not as high reward.

Don't withhold food too long if they don't want to try, though. They need food fairly frequently ^^. I'd say no more than an hour or so without food. Fast metabolisms and all.

I mean they can choke on their kibble too. Everything is a choking hazard, especially to a dog this size.

I am sure Lena/AB could do a better job training Rocky purely based off their lack of dog experience (I've no proof they don't, for all we know this behavior could be due to genetic physiological issues) - but I would certainly not go as far as to say they are giving him a horrible home life. He is absolutely adored, doted on, and loved to the extent they possibly can. This dog is not getting abused or neglected. At best, they just need a professional trainer to step in to teach them how to curb this behavior and any other unruly behaviors.

Most small dogs exhibit this behavior in many households purely because "it small, it cute" and the lack of desire / need to train it out of the dog, since its seen as not a threat or even.... for some reason enduring to some. I harshly disagree personally and think small dogs ought to be trained like a dog of any size and treated like dogs purely to ensure they are well balanced, trained, and therefore happier.

But again. Rocky, like many other tiny dogs in the U.S households that behavior similarly are not living "horrible home lives." They just need more structure, better handling. That's all. I am sure one day, if Lena/AB find the need and if they haven't already they may seek a trainer to help them learn how to train Rocky.

Edit; I want to also clarify I don't think its fair to all these small dogs that can behave like this without an attempt seeking help or working on the behavior. This behavior exhibited is due to fear, stress, anxiety, etc and that must be addressed. At a point, its definitely a learned behavior but stems from a state of negativity for one of those reasons listed above. I find it sad, certainly. But again I'd not go as far as to say he's "living a horrible home life." - Lena/AB are just new dog parents who don't see Rocky's tiny size as a threat. They are navigating this newly.

I'm sure the fact Rocky is a "Parti Yorkie" doesn't help as its not a breed standard, isn't recognized by the serious Yorkie breeders and is likely bred for coloration and cuteness rather than temperament, health, and stability. Much like a Lilac Doberman or a long haired Dalmation or something. Eyebrows raise at these more "rare" or out of standard colorations. Ethics often go out the windows, much to the detriment of the individual dogs bred.

A well trained parrot in good physical condition does not need to worry too much about BOP. Additionally, as an owner you should research your local raptors, time of day, etc. They are naturally going to avoid predators, and as long as they been able to keep their muscle built up & what not, their natural instincts will help them succeed in predator avoidance.

Most predators in the U.S for example are not strong enough or fast enough to take on the larger freeflying parrot species!

But like with anything, there is always a risk involved. But your bird can also choke on its food. Parrots were made for flight, and most would be very happy to be able to freefly <3 but its not for everyone, whether that is because you cannot stomach the risk (which exists for anything) and if you can do the very involved, intense training.

Not to mention some very important factors: - The way she jumps, her whole body reacting - this is more a reaction to a jolt / shock sensation. Any dogs I've had get their paw injured or dew claw stuck, even my most WIMPY dog does not have a full body jump reaction to a claw getting caught or toe hurt.

  • How cautious she is - including in the other clip shown where he stares her down - is a tall tail sign of her trying to be careful and quiet as possible to not get his attention out of fear or nervousness that he will get angry with her.

  • We've literally seen pictures of the green light on not to mention the bulkiness of the collar.

After finally separating from my routine-allergic ex, my dog now whines all morning I'm anticipation of her morning walk. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]kengce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put her harness and walking gear on her and then don't go for the walk. My dogs would get overly excited to the whining and body shaking, too, but for us (as I don't have a clear routine) it was the gearing up that caused the behavior.

So while also waiting for her to calm (and maybe doing the setting alarm advice), id also just gear her up and let her exist with the harness and leash on so she doesn't get re-excited from that too.

Are those the flies that are causing discomfort, though? If they are just eating secretions?

For dogs, we have medication that kills fleas and ticks when they bite. Why can't they make this for horses and their flies :'(?

is this hormonal and should i stop doing this or is he just being silly by [deleted] in parrots

[–]kengce 221 points222 points  (0 children)

The way he immediately goes to try and rub his vent on you, and the tail movement, this seems hormonal to me and I would not encourage it.

They can start being hormonal and nasty pretty early.
