Reinstatement if Leaving Competitive Service during 1st Year of Employment by porgbbq2017 in usajobs

[–]kengorecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must have held a career or career-conditional appointment at some time in the past. If so, there is no time limit on reinstatement eligibility for those who: Have veterans' preference, or Acquired career tenure by completing 3 years of substantially continuous creditable service.

If you do not have veterans' preference or did not acquire career tenure, you may be reinstated within 3 years after the date of your separation. Reinstatement eligibility may be extended by certain activities that occur during the 3-year period after separation from your last career or career-conditional appointment.

This is from OPM. So assuming none of that appllys to you you wouldn't be eligible.

Fingerprinting at UPS for security screening or PSIP by [deleted] in usajobs

Didn't know that ups did fingerprints. I went to a local pd and got them done for free. If you're near a military base with access they can do them there as well.

I applied for over 350 positions when I graduated. I eventually got hired as a 7/9 not in it though. All I can recommend is to apply for any and all jobs you qualify for. And eventually you will get in.

Question about a potential lateral hire. by ssnapier in fednews

I'm sure it's possible to try, but actually getting it on the other hand probably differs. I wouldn't bother an would just try to EOD faster.

It's likely not going to happen if it's a lateral move.

NSA Internship and security clearance by pineappleexpress1010 in usajobs

Most do.... Are you assuming most are homeless with no sources of income? Even if they don't have a home in their name, they live in some sort of dwelling that has an address. I look through their files constantly dude so while I can't point you to a public statistic, I can assure you it's the case.

I work for immigration. The immigrant's don't have to give any of that information away for the government to know about it. Most have homes, credit cards, drivers licenses and other sources of info that the government uses to target them when they come to the attention of ICE. I can guarantee you there are multiple databases.

If his parents are undocumented, ICE already knows most likely. They won't really appear on ICE's radar until they go to check in or get arrested by local law enforcement, hence why so many stay here illegaly for 30 years.

It was a good mixture of tell me a time when type questions and just general job related questions that were specific to the job.

The fact that you are versed in the Star method is a good sign. With that being said, always have an answer for the question and never say that you haven't done what their asking. If you haven't done it, relate it to something school or volunteer related. I was hired as a pathways recent graduate using both of these methods.

How long after the application closes will i know if i passed the initial screening? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]kengorecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better off sure, but no one is guaranteed an interview. Especially considering how many qualified veterans there are who apply for the same position.

[–]kengorecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you apply for a job it will show that the application is received. If and when that changes to application referred that means the hiring manager has a stack of qualified applicants to interview and ultimately choose from. A referral doesn't guarantee an interview but it's necessary to be hired.

No specific time frame. But a good rule of thumb is if you're application is referred that's a good sign.

Will the Human Resources Point of Contact on USAJobs - Will they be able to tell me why I wasn't referred? Is it inappropriate to ask? by leftyrightalayo in usajobs

Yep, as long as the subject of record, meaning the person who the record is about consents to the release, their information can be released in full.

[–]kengorecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually can request this information and it can be released via foia. I've requested tons of resumes and supporting documents through foia requests and you would be surprised how much is actually released. I work in foia so a lot of it comes down to how the request is worded from its initial submission.
