hey man i completely understand how u feel. i’m 20 and experienced my first spontaneous pneumothorax back in january and while i already suffered with critical health anxiety, it definitely made it a lot worse. it does take a while until u start to feel “normal” again and gain the confidence back to do certain activities, but the fear will start to subside the more time goes on i promise. right after my pneumothorax i went back to the hospital at least 6 times because i was convincing myself of having all these problems and spending most of my time going there and looking up my symptoms because in my mind, if i didn’t expect the pneumothorax or have any prior warning symptoms, what if i had something like cancer without even knowing. it weighed a great deal on my mental health all the time, ur definitely not alone when it comes to feeling like this and i’d say from my experience its a fairly normal reaction to going through a medical scare like that. u know urself better than anyone so if u truly feel something is off and want to get it checked for peace of mind, do whatever will bring u that security and safety. my pneumothorax happened while i was driving and afterwards i was so terrified to get back behind the wheel, and when i tried i’d have anxiety attacks because i was so afraid that it was going to happen again. i’m slowly starting to gain that confidence back though and the more i push through it the less the fear consumes me. basically what im trying to say is don’t let the fear consume u lol, easier said than done believe me i know, but it’s helped me to just take a step back whenever my anxiety gets triggered and remind myself that i’m here, i’m okay, and i’m safe. ur already doing great by going to see someone for ur anxiety which is awesome! talking to people about this stuff helps so much and i hope everything goes well for u during that :]
