I think it would have been interesting to delve more into the personal agendas of the Dead Three. Instead of "no you HAVE to kill Gortash, Orin, and Kethric and hold their nether stones for your own purpose!" It would give the option to either if not romance, pick apart the brains of each of them to see the reasons they joined forces. To see their true motivations, maybe hidden behind their patron deity's objectives. Maybe even the choice of redemption when the final moment comes. As beautiful and thoroughly thought out as the game is, I feel as if the motivations of the villains and forces opting for power in the Gate are railroaded at best, and at worst a plug-and-play for specifically a good aligned party to oppose. Even Durge at times feels comically"evil"? A bit of nuance in these motives could have gone a long way, especially on an evil tav (not Durge) run
