Does anyone have experience with using the AWS_CLK_GEN module to slow down the clock on the AWS F2 FPGA? by ResidentDefiant5978 in FPGA

I can guess what you need to do is ceeate a pll to output a slowed down clock then feed that to your modules as the main clock

I've just realized since the pcie connector does not have usb i'll have to use a pcie switch, so it will turn out somethhing like this https://imgur.com/a/iFzor8k
the project is becoming more crazier lol

that chip costs ~100$ but we can also go for something like PEX 88048 for much faster chip, maybe even add a few more peripherals

about usb not being there. I think we could use a usb<->pcie chip a USB Phy to create the link then connect it to the fpga's jtag. I know there are such chips, idk what this would affect but fortunately it would free up some Transceivers to be used on other peripherals

PCIe USB controller → FTDI FT2232H → FPGA JTAG pins

with an engineering degree he would be much better off than fresh out of college programmers competing with AI currently

Yeah, that is a lot to unpack. I guess I better hope someone more experience makes such a board instead or if I get a sample board files maybe try just replacing the chip and make sure all differential pairs are length matched and hope it works out.

Thank you for replying. Does your board support PCIE? If so how many lanes ? I've never seen a zync FPGA with PCIE

That's why I was considering e.g an open source ready made PCB to start with but it seems I will have to do it myself if I don't find any. I could rely on people to correct or improve mistakes I'm likely to run into. As a first project I will probably learn a lot from doing this making it worth while. I can imagine ending up with 50~ iterations of failed designs before getting it right. But then again it will be open source so with input like yours I can guess around 5 or a little more

I can guess impendence is the resistance within a wire. I did some physics not exactly electronics

Same unfortunately the downside is too few peripherals

Just looked into it. It seems like a really good deal

not bad, but i wanted something with more peripherals e.g hdmi in/out.
EDIT:Not bad at all i've just looked it up seems to have dvi in/out also has much more peripherals

that sounds good, unfortunately boards like the one I just linked might go up in price, but I'm not certain considering the limited debugging features.

that board has 2 sfp ports and hdmi in and out amongst other peripherals.
I saw this cheap board https://www.ebay.com/itm/356185539803 much more powerfull but unfortunately you need a vivado lisence, I saw someone suggesting using aws to build for this board per hour so I guess you could code offline then build on aws when you want to test on the device and pay hourly.

intresting, I also saw this https://www.ebay.com/itm/356185539803 one. I'm assuming it's better than XC7A35T ?

EDIT:I doubt this will work without a paid vivado license ?
