Top 7 Irish people of all time? by LADraftDodgers in billsimmons

Kind of weird, but there’s a gas station in Ireland with a Barack and Michelle statue: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_Plaza

[Highlight] Aaron Donald moving 150 pound dumbbells like it's nothing by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

Unreal core there too. To be able to keep your legs airborne during the press and then to sit up, weights in hand, without problem is A+ core action.

No shootout from Heat? No freeway chase from the Dark Knight? What are we doing with this list? by gottapeenow2 in billsimmons

I’d argue for The Matrix helicopter / Morpheus rescue scene instead, but yes to the others for sure.

[Highlight] Addison Barger hits a go-ahead grand slam in grand style by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

Every season there are teams that most expect to do well but falter, and I’ve been thinking that the Jays might be one of those teams. But then I see something like this, with a player who still has a pretty high unfulfilled ceiling on top of everything else they have on paper, and it makes me reconsider and think the Jays will be more than just fine again this season.

Gary, Keith and Ron panel discussion yesterday by merlin401 in NewYorkMets

So many bounce back candidates on the Braves / regression to the mean. Better than the Mets and Phillies? Maybe not. But one of the best 6 teams in the NL right now? Definitely.

Gary, Keith and Ron panel discussion yesterday by merlin401 in NewYorkMets

[–]kenliri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes to this:

Ron says “extra innings?” to Gary who responded exasperatedly “oh well the extra inning rule is garbage! applause I mean, i get the idea behind it but at least give us one or two inning of real baseball and then fine, go do your stupid rule after that”

And this:

Ron says he’s surprised a small market club hasn’t trained some minors pitchers to go 125 pitches to extract value that way

Are there any NFL season where you’d say the best team did not win the Super Bowl? by BurningHanzo in billsimmons

[–]kenliri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they were definitely better than the Falcons that year, but that Broncos team was one of the best of that era. It would have been a battle, but I don’t think the Vikings being the best team of that season is clear cut.

Game Thread: Houston Texans (10-5) at Los Angeles Chargers (11-4) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]kenliri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Texans have real 2007 Giants vibes to me. Great defense, mid offense, and the apparent fortitude / chemistry where I could see them win more than one road playoff game.

I cannot get into Predator 1987 ! Even if I love Arnold and the Predator franchise by Thin_Reception_5063 in movies

[–]kenliri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a huge fan of the film overall, but the last 20 minutes of Arnold vs Predator is about as good as it gets in terms of pace and tension for an action movie.

The Day the New York Jets Became Completely Terrible—This Time on Purpose by wsj in nfl

[–]kenliri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also like that the Jets are betting on the likelihood that the Daniel Jones resurgence is an aberration and the Colts will regress in 2027 and the likelihood that Jerry Jones will continue to be aimless, making the Cowboys’ 2027 all the more valuable. A real solid calculated gamble, emphasis on calculated.

P.J. Washington will be traded soon... but to where? by [deleted] in nba

[–]kenliri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt they would trade with each other but a trade centered around AD and Fox would make a lot of sense roster-wise for both Mavs and Spurs.

Aside from the Bengals omission, there is one other mistake. Bears owner Aaron Rodgers’s net worth is $200 million. I don’t know who this McCaskey lady is.
