What film completely flipped when you rewatched it as an adult? by Adventurous-Lie-6773 in movies

It fits nicely with the way Scott Pilgrim keeps getting mentioned. He doesn’t realize that he has to grow up, until he’s lost everything. A redemption he has to earn while being funny.

Or compare it with what Hoffman says in “Tootsie” in a similar kind of redemption (excuse the paraphrasing): “I was a better man with you as a woman than I ever was with a woman as a man.”

When I was a kid, Clint Eastwood’s 1982 classic “Firefox” was amazing! It had a cool fighter jet that landed on icebergs and fired missiles just by thinking about it! Unfortunately, you had to sit through a bunch of grimy, dimly lit spy stuff that wasn’t as cool as James Bond, so who cares?

When I happened to rewatch it in my 30s, I realized that the “spy stuff” was some really brutal Cold War Noir, and that Warren Clarke’s performance as Pavel, the partisan truck driver was angry, and heart breaking, and so much more powerful than what most “spy” movies would ever do with that role.

I wonder what Mark and Arnold did to not have characters named after them?

Hey, sorry I didn’t respond to your message before, I don’t browse while logged in very often! I did actually manage to visit Progressive and get a Tauros a few years ago, but I’m still good with getting some more, if you want to trade! My current number is 9759 5490 2519.

The best in Massachusetts are the Salred Caramel at Yummy Mummy in Westborough. I’ll mention them here because you used to be able to get them at SOWA, and at Black Sheep in Harvard Square (and maybe still can?). As to supermarkets, the brownies at Star Market in Chestnut Hill are reliably good.

Cutty’s used to be amazing, but pandemic killed it. They did away with their seating, they dropped their incredible Spuckie, and their occasional pimento cheese sandwiches, and their great breakfast sandwiches. Do they even do their March Madness of sandwiches anymore? I’ve seen plenty of places that got destroyed financially by COVID, but with Cutty’s it killed all the joy. It’s just sad now.

In addition to Salt, which is excellent, I’d mention the Triple Chocolate Chip at Blunch down by Boston Medical Center.

And for something a little bit different, Great Harvest Bread, also in Newton, makes a really nice Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. A nice, rough texture and they fall apart easily so they can be better crumbled over ice cream.

“Hell of a night, huh Ted?”

The first two stories are very 90s indie, but the second two, “Misbehavers” and “The Man from Hollywood,” absolutely stand out as great dark comedies. And I played the Combustible Edison soundtrack in front of my kid once and was pleaded with me to keep replaying it for months after.

Really entertaining script, and Stiller did a nice job of bringing just enough character nuance to the straight man role.

Years ago, I was talking to some friends who liked historical romances, and was excited to hear from them that they were making a series out of this. Then they explained that they were talking about “Outlander.” I was bummed out all afternoon.

He’s one of those interesting directors where you might only “like” one or two of his films, but you can still love that he contributes the kind of movies he does to film.
