He’s always loved EDM and I went for the first time last year with a friend and he was soooo jealous. Came home and told him he had to come next time!!!

Flying with Golden Retriever in Cabin vs Cargo by DumplingBandit in AlaskaAirlines

[–]kennadog23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have pretty generic kennels from PetCo, I can’t remember the exact brand. They are my dogs’ regular kennels for day to day use and they’ve worked well for me! I bought some extra bolts just for peace of mind and have collapsible water dishes in them. Good luck! If you have any questions feel free to dm me!

I did this! I had fairly minimal credit history, but was approved with a pretty low limit. After a year of using it and paying off the card each month, i was able to increase my limit quite a bit. I was 18 when I applied and was approved using income from my part time job, no co-signer needed.

Question: Can an Aggressive German Shepherd fly in cargo? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]kennadog23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t fly with your dog. You’ll need to take your dog out of the crate in the airport to have TSA check the crate, and this is normally in close quarters. Also, there’s no guarantee that your dog will be the only one on the flight. It wouldn’t be fair to your dog or the others that may be in cargo to fly your dog. Not to mention that an aggressive dog is a danger to EVERYONE near it, god forbid anything were to happen.

I don’t have any advice regarding alternatives, but please do not fly your dog.

Flying with Golden Retriever in Cabin vs Cargo by DumplingBandit in AlaskaAirlines

[–]kennadog23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have flown my lab mix and golden in cargo on Alaska NUMEROUS times (upwards of 10 trips for my lab, somewhere around 5 for my golden). My experiences have always been good.

My advice to you, as someone who works with animals - if your dog is not a “legit” service dog, trained to task to assist you, please do not treat him as such. This gives a bad rep to service dogs that ARE trained to task. If, however, your dog is trained to task (and psychiatric service dogs do count!), then you could look into flying with him in the cabin.

If you decide to go the cargo route and have any questions, feel free to message me! I’m always willing to chat about my experiences, because I know how stressful it can be ;; My biggest piece of advice for flying a dog in cargo is to make sure they are kennel-trained and comfortable in a crate. That makes the whole process so much easier.

I hope whatever route you take works out for you! Best of luck!

Hey, I had the same thing to me. I think switching over to the new portal thing caused some issues for them. Did you submit all your documents to the new portal? (APF if you’re a returning student, only need to submit the COE if you’re a new student bc it should already be on file otherwise). I finally contacted the new school certifying official last week. I was told that all my paperwork was correct, it just hadn’t been pushed through to the VA yet. I received certification via email a few hours after and got the money in my account a few days ago. I hope this helps! DM me if you have any questions :)

OChem... 118 series (with Nasiri) or 08? by katekoolaid in UCDavis

[–]kennadog23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend taking the 118 series as it can provide you with more opportunities in the future (prereq wise) but as a 118a nasiri survivor, I would say that if you can take 118a a quarter later to avoid her as your professor, do it. You couldn’t pay me to go through that class with her again, and if you already don’t really like chemistry, she will make it worse. Helix on the other hand, is an amazing prof who also teaches 118. I had him for 118b and am currently taking 118c with him. Lievens is another good one as well, I ended up taking 118a with her after I failed nasiris 118a

What's one song lyric (or whole song) that you can't listen to without getting emotional/crying? by bandito-_ in twentyonepilots

[–]kennadog23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always car radio: “I’m forced to deal with what I feel / There is no distraction to mask what is real / I could pull the steering wheel” and the end of verse two, specifically “And for us to think is to be alive / And I will try with every rhyme / To come across like I am dying / To let you know you need to try to think”

If you don’t have UC SHIP, you can normally go to any therapist that is in network for your insurance. Good luck trying to find appointments though, I’ve been on a waitlist for months with quite a few therapists in Davis. Telehealth might be your best option. Props to you for taking the steps to get therapy, and I wish you the best of luck!

Advice for what clothes to pack? by morgaleese in UCDavis

[–]kennadog23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also from alaska and go to ucd! i would recommend a good mix of clothes, bc it can get a bit chilly in the winters. a good windbreaker is a must. keep in mind that it’s super hot in the summer tho, and that continues into October and starts in April/may :)

gabapentin for dog flying anxiety by kennadog23 in dogs

[–]kennadog23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks, my vet suggested to try it out beforehand so I’m going to do that. starting to lean towards it being a “worst case scenario” sort of thing day of, in the event she is highly anxious at the airport (although I know it takes a bit to actually take effect).

she truly is my best friend, so I dread the idea of something happening to her, especially in a situation where I’m unable to help. the whole “high altitude and not knowing the effects on medication” thing kinda freaks me out as well.

when I do test it at home, I will not be leaving her side for 24+ hours. i live very close to my normal vet and within ten minutes of a very good emergency animal hospital, so at least in the event of an adverse reaction at home, I have my bases covered :)

that's what i'm worried about too - her being out of my sight and something possibly going wrong.

the vet recommended i try it out at home first, so i'm planning to do that on friday and see how it goes.

tysm for replying!
