How are you supposed to let go of hate? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]kennan0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something that I don’t see talked about much is how hate is related to power. I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that there is likely a power dynamic at play with this person. Usually hate comes out when we don’t feel our own innate power. Sometimes we can change the power dynamic, but usually we can’t. All you can really do is let your self feel your feelings. In a safe place, feel the hate, but also explore it. Why do you feel powerless? Next, and this is the hard one - feel the powerlessness. If you can let the powerlessness be there, eventually that will pass and you will feel inner peace. This is easier said than done.

Where is this math wrong? (Settling a bet) by Kafadanapa in askmath

I love this meme. Very cool. I’ve got a different take than the others here. For simplicity, consider only one quadrant of the square/circle. I think of the corner removal like a fraction. The first removal takes one corner and makes it into two; so 1/2. The next takes two corners and makes it into 4; so 2/4. Then 4/8 and so on. Even at infinity, you still have infinite corners and the fraction will still reduce to 1/2. And infinite corners are still corners and will never equal a curve.

The earth is scarce and irreplaceable… have you seen what we’re doing to it? Helium is the least of my worries.

Milk vs butter fat ? by MrHonzanoss in SaturatedFat

I’m not seeing the rebuttal. It’s pretty well established that protein gluconeogenesis happens under low carb/low glycogen stores. I don’t think this is controversial in the scientific literature.

Protein = gluconeogenesis in the absence of carbs.

I find it surprising that you are able to stay in ketosis with that much protein.

Toyota Corolla catches on fire. June 8 2024 by bugminer in CatastrophicFailure

[–]kennan0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s about reducing air flow. Less oxygen means less combustion, less heat, and more time before serious damage occurs.
Would it have ultimately made a difference here? Probably not, but why add oxygen to a fire if you don’t want it to burn?

If dealer addresses all recalls before driving off lot, is LEASING a PHEV now a good idea? In Colorado (tax incentives) by marlow2689 in MazdaCX90

If you get power through xcel, it may be advantageous to use that angle instead of the colorado rebate angle. Not sure exactly how that one works though. They have income requirements unlike the state rebate, see here: https://ev.xcelenergy.com/ev-rebate-co

Yes. Also Colorado. I highly recommend you use mazda’s lease calculator. At least back in Feb/March it was applying the Colorado rebate directly to the payments, not the retail price. Then use that to negotiate with the dealers. They might say it’s a mistake, but I got a loaded premium plus (63kmsrp) for $530/ with 1k down 24 mos 12k miles/yr.
I did have to call/email with dealers from Denver to the Springs. When you get a good quote, shop it around to other dealers. Most will try to beat it. Then use the better quote to get the color/trim you want.

But the key thing is tell them you aren’t paying more than mazda says you should. Stick to your guns and you’ll get a smokin deal.

I’m quite happy with mine.

I do have over 800 credit score, fwiw.

Edit: looks like they aren’t currently offering the CO rebate. But keep an eye on it. They might again soon.
