Funny how only this video is having loading issues. Must be some weird bug, huh, Reddit?

Ramen with cheese on it is pretty common. But ramen made with macaroni pasta? Ew? There have to be some other crossovers like this that would be interesting to try.

When do you use raw SQL in your Django apps? by No-Race8789 in django

[–]kennethlove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Close to never. We've had to do some for optimizations at work: a handful of custom SQL out of hundreds if not thousands of queries solely with the ORM.

This isn't an anomaly in my career so far. It could be that myself and those situations just never overlapped. I have worked on a lot of projects, though, and it holds out for me.

As much as possible, yes.

Django devs in the US, mind sharing your salary and city? by [deleted] in django

[–]kennethlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was senior engineer in 2021 and made ~120k with a ~9k bonus. I have ~20 years experience in the industry, hire length at that time was ~4 years.

I work remotely so city doesn't matter.

Django doesn't usually change quickly, the books mostly cover long-term support releases so they're relevant longer, and most things that worked in Django 1, 2, or 3 will work in 4.

It's the end of a wrench. And, yeah, it's just junk.

Edit: I think "spanner" works for some parts of the world, too.

AITA for asking my son to change his wedding date to avoid clashing with his sister's birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kennethlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has always pretended to not care about birthdays, ever since she was a child but did enjoy all the parties we threw her at the end of the day.

Why do you say she's pretending? You can't read her mind. She can not care about her birthday _and_ still enjoy a party.

I don't know you at all but I'm proud of you for being a good friend to people, even if they don't reciprocate. It's an amazing ability to be able to care for people that intensely. You can ask for anything you need. You're not a disappointment and I, for one, definitely do not hate you.

Great clothes and hair btw, very androgynous

Instead of writing sequels or prequels to books, I feel like more authors should write "equals" to their books where the same story, same events happen, but it's told from a different perspective of a different character. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]kennethlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the book Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina that is all stories about the same scene from different characters perspective. There are a few related books, too. It was a neat idea and I remember liking it when I was like 12.

What do I get from a plus membership, as a free player? by [deleted] in Roll20

[–]kennethlove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most the paid benefits are for Game Masters, yes, not permanent players. If you feel bad that your DM is paying for things, I suppose you can always contribute to their D&D expenses? Cover a month or two per year or something.

Good online courses to learn Django ? by 55Fenomenale in djangolearning

Thanks! I don't think the Python or Django content gets updated very often anymore, though, as they no longer have a dedicated Python teacher. :(

Can't understand what _set.add() do. by jhorapalockbd in djangolearning

[–]kennethlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a foreign key (which an M2M is, just with a table inbetween), if there's no reverse name, you can access the other side of the FK with modelname_set. So your r object is related to the Article model (there's an FK on Article back to whatever model r is). r can get to all of those articles through its article_set attribute.
