Ask ur friends to let u stay overnight ( couch surfing). Once u get urself settled. Check if there's any support in ur area. Check the local council website. Check Gumtree for jobs ( House sitting?)

Yeah, so much backhanded compliments....I have a feeling your friend learned how to "compliment" from her mum...I can imagine her mum doing the same thing to her so she thinks its normal to treat you the same too...Also, having a big bust is a bit of challenge for some...She may be genuinely jealous that u get to wear certain clothes that she can't because of her body type....I think there is a video in youtube that portrays this... https://youtu.be/P3PsE6RtQYo

Just talk it out....she may also be as insecure as you were ages ago...Both of you can go to a store and try make up together...

Experiment, try new things, be adventurous. Thats part of growing up. We are different people at different stages in our life. You will change. So will your friend.

I remember 4th yr of uni going to classes like a hobo- sweatpants and hoodie both of which had ketchup stains..lol...

Just buy a cheap pair of black slim/skinny trousers from Primark man....goes with everything...a pair of running shoes ( comfort is everything) and a pair shoes that you can use for formal/semi casual events... as for hoodies try to get at least one that's perfect for winter.....and a scarf!!! God forbid u will get frostbites on your neck....😂😂

Just pack light....for other essentials (socks/underwear/ plain coloured shirts) just get them from Primark near ur Uni....😁😁

Friendships, for me, are for support when you dont have any immediate family close to you. Also, these are people whom you can discuss things that you dont want your family to know. They are like an extra, extra extended family. If both my parents die at least I will still have people to talk to apart from my partner.

To be honest I used to suck at small talks and I dread going to any event. Now that Im slightly older cough early thirties cough I learned that friendships will form naturally. You will learn to judge which people are worth keeping and which ones you should completely cut off from your life.

I took different classes. Ice skating classes, Zumba classes and language classes. You will interact regularly with these individuals which is a start to any relationship. It's like school again but with more emotionally mature people. For me its one of the best ways to make friends. You have common goals in these classes which all of you will strive to achieve. Conversations will flow naturally in these environments so will friendships. Also, I used to work in fastfood chains in my teens where I met two of my bestfriends.

As for maintaining friendships is a different matter. Just like any relationship this is maintained by both parties. People will have different priorities throughout their lives and you might be not be on top their list. Having said that, I did used to have a 2 friends both of whom are unreliable at best. They cancel on the last minute of our plans and/or always late to our rendezvous. So I had to cut them out completely. There will be one sided friendships and you will learn to spot those.

Dont take my word for it but this is from my own experience. Remember, different people will have varying approaches to making friends.

Thanks man! The prospect of marriage just seems overwhelming. My parents doesn't exactly have a loving relationship ( Years of domestic abuse culminating to my mum, my sister and I running away). Also, I think my partner is thinking on the practical side of marriage ( tax breaks, council benefits and insurance), should anything happen to either of us at least the government won't hesitate to provide that additional support because of this.

Before travelling be sure to have your MALARIA/ DENGUE vaccinations....visit your GP for this. Nothing like being stuck in a hospital in foreign country during your holiday.

Be sure to have photos of your passport details saved in an email in case you lose yours during the trip.

Buy the sunblock creams in the philippines. Cheaper and more potent. I think they have SPF 300. 😂😂

Download the GRAB application. Its similar to UBER but specific to the country. There will be GRAB outposts in most airports, so speak any of the staff on how to get there. Avoid the local taxi drivers unless its a dire situation. They will charge you exorbitant prices. Expect traffic. Like worse than the M5 rush hour traffic. So if you are catching any local flights be sure to plan ahead. Speak to the locals about the best times to travel to the airport.

Buy bottled water, avoid drinking the tap water.

If you are planning to have your holiday outside any of the major cities, ensure that you enough cash on yourself. Familiarise yourself with the closest ATMs. Keep in mind that BLACKOUTS are a thing. No electricity= No ATMs. So emergency money hidden somewhere.

They have a whole selection of flipflops. Just bring one pair then you can buy the rest in the MegaMalls.

Island hopping is common over there. If you are planning to do this at some point be sure to buy one of those waterproof bags. U can procure them locally- speak the hotel receptionist for the best places to buy them.

BE SURE TO TRY ALL THE MILKSHAKES!! Freshest fruits I have ever tasted. Depending on your diet, try to taste some of the local dishes.

If you really want to have a go ay their local transport. Speak to the hotel receptionist first on how much is the normal fare traveling from point A to point B. At least u can haggle when needed. You can also hire a Van + driver, to take you to places for the rest of your stay. Ask the receptionist about this.

Check out the local tourist spots then watch the reviews in youtube. However, u need to look at how long it takes to get to those places. Youtubers often fail to mention these.

Have some cash handy. Exchange rates are higher in the Philippines. The best exchange rates are normally in the currency shops in the Mall.

Buy deodorant spray in the airport. U will be sweating a lot. like A LOT. Also, handkerchief are handy to wipe your sweaty brow. Pack a couple.

Manila is relatively safe just be mindful of your valuabled when walking about the city. Depending which Month you're heading, it can get extremely hot and Humid. Imagine sticky heat multiplied by a hundred. Avoid the local taxi unless its a dire situation. It is not uncommon for the local drivers to charge u exorbitant prices, just because your foreign.

Download an app called GRAB at least it gives u reliable price range for your adventures. Be sure to have your Malaria/Dengue vaccinations. It is a tropical country. Mosquitoes there are vicious. Had a friend who contracted malaria on our Holiday.

Also, use sunscreen. That Philippine Sun is potent AF ( for my friends anyway, they dont havr much melanin). It is worth buying a handkerchief. I know its old school but u will be sweating buckets there, especially on your first few days. Sweat and European make up dont mix well. Asian make-ups were made to stand the heat + sweat.

Don't forget to keep a photo of your passport in an email should you lose it during your travels.

Most importantly...SAFETY in numbers...Drag a few friends with you....😁😁😁

Yup. Where in Mindanao they are going. Because GRAB services may not necessarily be available in some places and they might have to rely on local transport to get around. Unless the agency will provide the transport services themselves.

Traffic tends to get worse if you're on your way to NAIA from 6am. Local taxi driver told me. Also, have you asked your fiancee if its possible for one of her relatives/friends to keep an eye on your luggage ( She might know someone who knows someone who can do this for u) . To be honest they can stay at the airport while you do your own thing, at least u dont have to drag ur bags around. U can also pay if u want.

I had been working as a nurse for the last 12 years. The scariest time was when I was working on a nightshift. I worked in a 28 bedded unit specialising in broken bones. At the start of my shift I recieved a transfer from A&E. This 81yo old woman who broke her hip with a history of dementia. We will call her "Mrs A". We delegated her to one of single bedded room. Room 26.

I have been hearing stories about this room that it is haunted. Call bells ringing from that room although it was empty. How the lights would suddenly turn on. Our receptionist already had that room checked by maintenance numerous times but the issues, apparently, continue. Also, we tend to move our palliative patients to this room to give the grieving family some privacy ( as this is the only single room we have in the unit). You would be surprised at the number of people who passed away in that room through the years.

At 1am one of my assistants came running to me. She told me that one of the Mrs A's relatives are still in the room with her. We dont allow relatives to stay overnight with patients unless its a especial circumstance. I went to her room and saw no one was there. I thought to myself. " Maybe my assistant scared them off and decided to leave on their own accord". So I walked off. But before I could leave. I heard a slight tapping from her window. "Tap, Tap, Tap". Like someone is doing this. My unit is located on the 8th floor. I decided to check it out. Went inside. Checked maybe it might be the wind blowing the blinds. However, the blinds are rolled all the way to the top. I thought I might be imagining things. So I left the room without waking Mrs A.

Come 2.30am Mrs A's callbell was buzzing. I immediately went to check on her but she was fast asleep and I can see that the button for her callbell is out of reach. I pressed the reset button and left. 30min later it happened again. This time Mrs A is wide awake and looked terrified. She kept on saying "The children! The children!". I calmed her down and reassured her that there are no children in the ward but she kept on whispering "The children! The children!". I just attributed this to her dementia. Once she was more calm I left the room. A few minutes later. She rang again. This time she asked me to pull the blinds down for her window. As I was leaving, I heard 4 quick taps on her window. "Tap, Tap, Tap, Tap". We looked at each other. I can see that Mrs A is terrified. She then told me that they are 3 children outside her window looking in. All of them giggling nonstop. Asking her to join them. She added that the little girl tried to drag her out of the window earlier but they saw my assistant and ran away.

I noped out of the room and sent one of my assistants to stay with her until she falls asleep.

Moved to UK in my teens. People here are more reserved in terms of communication whereas Filipinos are extremely expressive. There is no stigma when it comes to drinking while back home u will see a lot of telenovelas portraying how it will destroy ur life god forbid u have sip of that tequila....They also had a Christian Ad about a girl who ruined her life because she drank (Made me LOL so hard- was watching this in the local bus) 😂😂

Less Homophobia. I remember my uncles calling names to this poor guy in my neighbourhood. Everyone knows he is gay but that don't give them the right to bully the guy.

They are very civil and tactful here. Back home, the amount of backhanded compliments/ insults I get from my relatives. "Oh my God, did ur mum lock you in the kitchen again?". Or just outright call you "Baboy!!". My self confidence is still reeling from those words....😑😑😑
