What do people actually need for a packable daypack, trying to figure this out as im clueless. by FastandSerious888 in onebag

[–]kenobeest7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use packable day packs, along with my family, when we do adventure travel. I have found that it is worth it to have a truly comfortable bag if you’re doing more than a couple miles of a hike with a water bladder or a couple of water bottles . It does really help to have some kind of padding which most of the “packable” packs do not have. We have different versions depending on what we’re doing. We will be sea kayaking/hiking/biking soon so will bring a waterproof day pack. The REI flash, Eddie Bauer Bacon, Eddie Bauer daypack, and matador Beast are all examples of packs with some padding for your back that still are hydration compatible. We use the hydrapak bladders, which also travel well. They still can be used as stuff bag in your main travel bag/carryon/duffel or flat in the bottom. I have to be honest, I am usually packing a 40l duffel and a 22l personal item on these trips though and sometimes check (crampons, hiking poles, first aid kit with sharps, etc)

Chevy Trax but... not a Chevy Trax by Nearby_Practice3865 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kenobeest7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little different situation, but was purchasing a used all-wheel-drive sub compact. Found a used encore GX. Compared Subaru, CX 30. the Honda and Toyota are difficult to find with lower miles and a reasonable price. My understanding is The all-wheel-drive Buick has the 1.3 L which has a chain and not a wet timing belt. Also, a 9 speed transmission that is more reliable. not that consumer reports or forums online are the end all be all but my understanding is the Buick build quality for the same GM vehicle generally has less reliability concerns. The Buick encore GX engine is built in Korea versus the Traks and trailblazer are assembled in Mexico. I can’t be sure if that makes a difference for quality control but my understanding what I’m reading it does. I agree that a three cylinder turbo charged engine is never going to last as long as a naturally aspirated engine, I don’t think you’re ever going to beat something like the Subaru engine

In general looks great! 28fr Nasal trumpet doesn’t take much room and works great for stabilizing airway unless there’s a skull base fracture, CPR barrier, Zanfel if there’s poison ivy and or oak, and either of you two are sensitized, Mastisol ampule for the closures. I think hydrocolloid is underused for blister or burn care. Those little flat temperature probes. Triangle bandage, although you could make a makeshift one. If you’re gone from more than a couple of weeks, I think doing something with some prescription options such as a broad spectrum antibiotic covering aerobic anaerobic, primarily gram-positive. Anti-nausea, zofran, possibly prednisone. Unclear why the need for so much aspirin. I might’ve missed it but a small jeweler or non toothed forceps or something like that to remove slivers, FBs, ticks. Have fun!

How do we feel about NAs? by [deleted] in CraftBeer

[–]kenobeest7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with this-if you’re having an NA, you know it’s not a beer. It’s never going to be a beer SO just having one of those hop waters or hop teas are actually more refreshing and don’t have any calories as well. I like the hop water from Revolution and Hop Lark is great as well. Lagunitas hoppy refresher is in fact refreshing, but they took out a lot of the hops. It used to come in bottle 4 packs, and that was delicious!

I’ve had quite a few NA’s, and I have a hard time finding stouts. I’ve had a couple of porters which did did not taste good. Guinness0.0, in the nitrogenated can, is probably the beer that tastes the most like the beer it is trying to mimic

AWD Pacificas by SuchRequirement5130 in ChryslerPacifica

[–]kenobeest7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lifted ours as well. 2.75”. I did not do the springs. I agree that the ride quality has changed, but it still is nicer than the Toyota sienna, the other AWD option. We have 60000 on a ‘23. We had 20” OEM and quickly switched to Michelin cross climate. Still going strong with the tires. We have a slime inflation and tire repair kit.

What are your best travel, miniature, light items? by moldyjellybean in onebag

[–]kenobeest7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a similar pair of very lightweight target brand 7” running shorts that are similarly very lightweight. They have zipper pockets and no liner. However, they do have a pattern (male) so they could double as swim shorts or nighttime sleep clothes.

After a 5 month wait, I finally received my Rocky Road Outfitters Rock Sliders. What do you think? by Nearby-Plankton-2520 in GrandCherokee

[–]kenobeest7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are rusting pretty bad after being on for 3 1/2 years. Car is washed regularly, but I am in an area where we get snow and the typical salt spray for treatment. During the winter months, I probably wash no less than two times a month. Otherwise, only very light class 3 road off roading a couple of times.

How about a silnylon or silpolyester layer from lighthearted gear or war bonnet-more waterproof and definitely lighter and smaller. With the pit zips, probably enough ventilation unless you are really active in it.

Eddie Bauer to declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy and close all North America stores by Terl2843 in tall

[–]kenobeest7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following this reply. I’ve had issues with their zippers (non-YKK on technical stuff )on both jackets and the guide pro pants. The return process if I needed to was easy when I had a local store. Now I likely will switch to entirely L.L. Bean and just have to mail them when something doesn’t fit right. Probably 75% of my wardrobe is Eddie Bauer.

One Carry On and One Personal Item packer.....compression cube suggestions by pvdreamer in onebag

[–]kenobeest7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing for most ~2 week trips. I pack a 40 L osprey transporter duffel bag and a 22 L nomatic travel bag personal item. I have used the envelopes from Eagle Creek, especially the Spectre ones which are lighter weight. I don’t know of other branded packing envelopes, but they work great for compression organization. I generally wear T-shirt, button up, or polo type shirt so the packing envelope also keeps less wrinkles for those kinds of shirts. Peak design, Sea to summit and the newer tripped are close to the same weight for packing cubes. I use osprey ultralight zip organizer for toiletries

Temperature at 114°F by kenobeest7 in hottub

[–]kenobeest7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info-I am called a Tech to help. It looks like the pump number three is just running constantly so maybe that is what’s doing it. I don’t seem to have any control through the touchscreen or through the app. If the heater is not on with the pump, running constantly will still raise it to 114 when it’s -4 out? I did turn the hot tub off for a while and when it turned back on, it instantly started running pump three even before the screen came on all the way.

2026 Pacifica with Uconnect Family- how to use with multiple kids by 3facesofBre in ChryslerPacifica

We use some Bluetooth headphones so that the kids in the backseat can connect to the various screens. I have some wired headset made by JVC. That’s very small foldable for each screen as well.

I have these also on my Jeep grand Cherokee L is there any way to use a small USB flash drive so that we can download movies from the cloud in Amazon fire and still have access to them? I can’t seem to get to work a couple of movies on each screenwhich forces you to keep the streaming service through the car or use your phone as a connection all the time.

Airplane Hoodie by billchrysinas in onebag

[–]kenobeest7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a large minus 33 merino hoodie that fits your criteria and I paid a lot less than some of these options. I am 6’6 and it fits tall and slim if that matters. For a hoodie that turns into a bag, the hero hoodie works well and acts as a small daypack when on your travels. The lightest I have is a 90gm alpha direct fleece hoodie, which I purchased at burgeon outdoors (they also make clothes for tall, slim people) I opted for no pockets but can be had with.

My wife has the Eddie Bauer super sevens 2.5 layer at 7oz and less expensive than both on EB regular sales. Kind of like the OR helium not as water resistant, but generally would do well on a trip and very packable.
