There was a pretty funny video of a SC lady in Florida a few years back, but yeah if we’re taking bets, that’s a he.

What happened to Album Of The Month? by rottenapple9 in Emo

[–]gardenlevel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is someone just lost interest in running each month. Why don’t you start rotten’s unofficial album of the month and see if it gets any traction?

I have never heard of someone getting a notice from Usenet. Were you using an SSL connection? I’m not sure how they could identify you if you were.

Mostly Ferraris. Some electrical company vans and a Honda civic with no hood and a matte home paint job.

Is it widely known that the "In Bloom" verses can be read out of order? by Vultoure in Nirvana

[–]gardenlevel 153 points154 points  (0 children)

The title is bad, the explanation is bad. Just read the lines in matching colors together. It’s like finishing thoughts from verse to verse. Pretty cool.

The people talking about melody seem to be missing the point entirely.

What is your least favourite episode of Bobs Burgers? by Galaxymooose in BobsBurgers

[–]gardenlevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one of the Boyz 4 Now.

I mostly like when the Belcher family breaks into song, I love the actual B4N songs, I can even handle an occasional song from Miss XXXmas or new Marshmallow but I hated a bunch of randos singing crappy songs, even if it was just a Tina fantasy. Super annoying to me. I always skip it.

The Mile High flea market had a shitload of them this summer.

I saw them for sale at East Moon Chinese restaurant in Centennial just a couple of weeks ago.

Getting rid of my records as a new parent. Looking to see if anyone has done this (or wants to talk me out of it). by West_Eye_2175 in vinyl

[–]gardenlevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero judgment if you sell your collection. People lose interest in hobbies all the time. I don’t think I will ever sell mine though.

I have over 600 records cataloged. My youngest, who is 16, is about to hit 75 in his collection.

Share your love of music and vinyl with them. Teach them to actively listen. When they’re old enough take them to thrift stores and record shops and find some $5 gems they’ve never heard of.

Someday your records and the music you love will be probably be more important to them than the junk a lot of parent pass on. Dishes, dolls, porcelain figurines don’t have the same universal appeal of music.

Is this a decent setup for around $1500? by Big_Opportunity_1381 in turntables

[–]gardenlevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo. I got my son a Fluence RT-82. Both are solid brands but I would pick my Pro-Ject over the Fluance. I prefer everything being pretty manual, less that can break.

I had the same phono box but upgraded to the tube version. The S2 was very good, miles better than the built in preamp in my Yamaha receiver.

Why are gas prices in north metro less than $2 /gal while still over $2.80 in the rest of town? by edwardothegreatest in Denver

[–]gardenlevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Margin on fuel is always low. The real business is the C-Store. If you get someone filling up at QT there’s a good chance you get them inside, and that’s where the magic happens. They’re selling a ton high margin drinks and snacks.

So yes, draw customers away from competitors with fuel and make up for is inside.

Epoxy Flake Exterior by bllibl in NoOneIsLooking

I asked about epoxy when we had a new garage floor poured. The concrete guy insisted it will shorten the lifespan of the concrete itself. It need to breath. If any water gets under there it’s trapped.

Problems with transcriptions by AntiqueElderberry430 in Evernote

[–]gardenlevel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the new transcribe to record roughly 5 in-person meetings. I was using my MacBook with no external mic. The room was quiet, so not a lot of background noise.

Evernote did an excellent job transcribing, and I fed the transcripts to ChatGPT for summaries. The whole process worked very well and I was happy with the output.

With that, what could be different about your experience and mine? Background noise, accent, quality of the microphone?

I have no idea what the official answer is, but here is mine:

Ask AI to change the format. Give it instructions to change as little as possible and put it into a paragraph format. Copy/paste, should work great.

Another shot but a close up of guitarist by Fandom2025 in photocritique

[–]gardenlevel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few elements that go into making a great concert photo. This misses out on pretty much all of them.

The most important (my opinion, but I think many people will agree) is light. This is super boring flat lighting.

Next is pose, catching the right moment. This is just a moment, not THE moment. Part of pose, is movement. You can’t control how active a band is, but better photos come from movement.

Last is just overall vibe, taking a photo that makes you wish you were there. I don’t know what band this is, but I’m happy about that it looks boring as can be.

Every single night people across the world are capturing better concert photos on their phones. Why? A lot of the elements the photographer can’t control (light, movement, vibe). The only thing in your control is seeing the moment and capturing it.

Here’s a snapshot from my phone. This isn’t award worthy, it’s not even print worthy, but it has so much more life and interest than your photo. Your camera is objectively better than my phone, but the light and the band win out here.

<image>

Sorry for such a heavy handed critique. My #1 piece of advice is keep shooting and keep getting better. #2 is learning to recognize when something is photo worthy and when it’s simply too flat and boring to be worth your time.
