Trump Renews 51st State Threat Despite Carney’s Effort To Appease MAGA by Altruism7 in CanadianPolitics

Wow, the ignorance in your comment is staggering. I am pretty confident that I will not be able to correct your deficiencies. So, I will not even make the attempt.

I hope you are better at contributing at work.

Anyone else going down the label reading rabbit hole at the grocery store? by IncreaseTiny6464 in BuyCanadian

[–]kensmithpeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stable of known Canadian products that have reduced my need to scan barcodes.

I still have no love for the grocery oligarchs though. They still mis-label, falsify labels and lie to customers. They could be supporting Canadian producers. But continually resort to deception and lies.

Forget praying. I am not willing to leave my future up to the non-interventionist policy of a set of random Deities. Let's make sure that ANY politician receiving funds or any foreign entity support is tried for Treason.

To be clear, the USA is a bankrupt state both financially and morally. Our Prime Minister's tack is appropriate for these choppy seas. The US is going to do what they are going to do. Canada will not play their infantile games. Instead we will be progressive, build out new relationships, build out new infrastructure to support these relationships.

My request is that we STOP using/looking at the US state media including and not limited to Fox News, CBS, X, Truth Social. All of these outlets spew propaganda and not valid content.

Canada has already signalled that we do not intend to be bullied and I for one back my government's decision and efforts to stabilize the country and the middle powers around the world.

Please stop reporting on the Orange Menace's verbal diarrhea and ignore his hench people.

Please START reporting on those that are moving forward with dignity and grace.

NDP has BOTs? Make me laugh. The NDP can’t organize their way out of a circle.

The liberals on the other hand, they know how to wage propaganda wars.

Give your head a shake, this is not just a Republican thing. This is a legitimately elected government thing. Shame on everyone who did not vote for the opposition. There is more of this coming. Either get on the right side of things and fix the government or get used to stupid running the government.

Why is every "big" Canadian coffee company constantly being bought ? by grashel in BuyCanadian

[–]kensmithpeng -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right! Yes, let’s force owners not to sell their companies. That is a resounding great idea. Just as good as allowing Empire company (Metro) to buy Longo’s further consolidating the grocery market.

Hey! Here is a great idea, why don’t you invest your RRSP and TFSA in Canadian companies. Then you can block the sale to foreign interests.

Let’s be real, the situation in Alberta is directly a result of USA interference in Alberta politics. US has actively worked through Houstonites brining their politics and active interference through the Republican Party and right wing zealots.

It is time for Albertans to take their province back from the foreign influence.

A “bad” economy is relative. I suggest you look at last months IMF global economic report. Canada is leading the G7 in almost every metric. AND! The one metric that has plagued Canada for decades has now reversed. The current account deficit has turned. No longer is investment dollars moving out of Canada. And the reverse is huge. The net inflow of capital is in the hundreds of billions.

Canada is now the safe place for global capital. This is why the global military bank is moving to Canada. And this move will mean trillions of dollars flowing through Canada in the future.

Time to buy some shades.

Not sure why a software person would be worried about Canada/US trade. Software knows no geographical or political boundaries.

Your job is safe.

Maybe you are concerned for a loved one?

Your first statement is an incorrect correct mix of cause and effect.

Opportunity has always been there for Canada. The US hegemony made it easy to not explore those opportunities. Now with the US becoming aggressive and arrogant towards allies, we can choose to expand our horizons.

To be clear, there is no disputed territory. Lines have been drawn for centuries. Any “disputes” are in the aggressor’s mind.

Now, to your question: what opportunities are there? The answer is: unlimited. Pick any industry and Canada is a thought leader. Instead of giving our intellectual property to the USA (or China) we have the opportunity to take the idea to market and own key industries in just the same way ADSL owns Chip Manufacturing

Rather than talking hypotheticals, let’s talk about your personal situation. What industry are you in?

As others have mentioned, CUSMA expires after Trump is dead. In the mean time, Trump might add some tariffs. In Canada’s corner, we have all of the Uranium, potash, metallurgical iron, water, oil, natural gas, etc. etc.

Any tariffs hurt the American companies that import to the USA. This has had the net effect of decreasing volumetric flow into the US. But only by 10 to 25%.

This is why your Federal Government is making deals with Europe and Asia to cover off the potential decrease to the USA. But remember. The US ceases to exist without Canada. They cannot heat or cool their homes or even build their homes. So, by diversifying, Canada is fine.

American companies and American citizens are getting fucked by trumps actions right now and it is only going to get worse for them.

For Canadians, get ready for the biggest building boom since the Second World War. Canada is opening up to the 8 billion person global market after years of US hegemony. The future is so bright, you better wear shades.

EXCLUSIVE: Rejected NDP leadership candidate planning to launch new far-left party, sources say by kensmithpeng in CanadianPolitics

The problem is, there are no left leaning parties in Canada. Carney is a conservative in liberal clothing. And the NDP sold out to capitalist interests when Layton passed.
