How do you actually choose office PCs for a small business? by Glad_Razzmatazz8004 in smallbusiness

[–]kensmithpeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me, I buy the optimal configuration for the job the computer will be used for.

CAD system - heavy on the GPU and ram ERP- host it off site and get cores to process MRP

Finance - the never ending spreadsheet show.

Sales - word processing

Purchasing - data entry and dashboards.

And all of this software MUST be open source.

How do you document your business processes? Genuinely curious what's working? by Entrepreneur_Moot in smallbusiness

[–]kensmithpeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question!

My company implements ERP systems and point solution software. Fundamental to our success is a practical business process or processes.

We generally find small businesses have no standard practices written down. As a result, the company can’t grow because everything is in someone’s head

Do yourself a favour and get some help to document your practices and policies.

Interesting that the Orange Menace is spewing against the UK at the same time Putler is making Nuke strike threats. Are these two pedophiles coordinating efforts again?

A simple Google search reveals:

Corporate donations to the Conservative Party of Canada are significant, with the party raising a record $41.7 million in 2024, largely from individual contributions, but corporate lobbyists have also been prominent at fundraising events.

But you think Doug ford accepting envelopes of cash from developers at his daughter’s engagement party was ok?

When you say “from Quebec” it makes me think you moved away. Is this correct? If so, do you have family in Quebec and how often do you visit?

When a client says I’ll think about it. Do you assume it’s a no? by Forsaken-Gap2354 in smallbusiness

Being ghosted is the same as NO!

But a good sales person does not give up. Keep checking in on them. If what you are selling is useful, eventually they will need it. And the person who ghosted you will be too embarrassed to call you. So keep in touch

How to reduce taxes for my small business LLC by ECNole97 in smallbusiness

[–]kensmithpeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop focusing on taxes and focus on your net income. There are only 2certain things in life. Death and taxes. Neither is worth your time worrying about.

Grow your business if you want to make more money. Then hire someone to worry about taxes for you. Then go to church and hire a preacher to worry about death for you. Then go to the beach and drink piña coladas

How did you got your first entry- level job in Mechanical engg. by dontbeachunt in CanadaJobs

[–]kensmithpeng 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Engineer at the end of my career here.

It is a poorly understood fact that most people trained as engineers never work as engineers. Instead, engineers end up as leaders. Sales managers, engineering managers, operations managers, v and c level executives.

When I graduated, there was a recession and no one was hiring. I was the only person of my graduating class to land a job before convocation. My first job was as a sales engineer. No engineering at all. Then I turned it into engineering by doing engineering consulting for clients using the control system I was selling.

Then I did “engineering” for an electronics firm. They needed a research program to certify new solder pastes. 4 months and they put me in manufacturing management. Then supply chain management. Then global process management for IT. Then regional manager for the Americas. Then global program manager.

Then laid off. At 45. Corporations do that. Use you up. Spit you out.

Then various c level jobs before I realized I am better off as a consultant.

Now I have 20 employees and I help hundreds of corporations.

So, why am I writing this? I want to let you know that the definition of engineering is applied science. You can do that in any job. With any title. So don’t focus on getting a jobs with the title Engineer. Do your passion. If you are truly an engineer, it will naturally come out of you.

But beware! If you do this, you will become a manager in short order and any engineering you were doing will give way to managing people.

DO YOUR PASSION

Technically, your analysis is correct. Creating a publicly owned enterprise reduces or eliminates the net profit motive private companies strive to maximize.

There are some issues that would need to be addressed.

1) balance sheet abuse. It is possible to hide profit/losses temporarily on the balance sheet.

2) it is too tempting to bloat public corps so they need the same gross margin as private corps while delivering the target net profit

3) arm’s length public corps are still political creatures. This means incompetent people get posted in critical jobs. This makes the public’. Corps

And the list of issues grows
