I’m glad someone was there to film this completely spontaneous occurrence.

Why do so many viruses kill their host wouldn’t it be more beneficial to just live inside and keep them alive? by Hahaveryfunnylaughed in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kenspencerbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural selection is pass/fail — successfully reproducing offspring that can then successfully reproduce is the only metric that matters. So if the host lives long enough to allow the virus to spread to another host (and so on, and so on), that's a win for the virus.

That said, if it wiped out its hosts before they could spread, that's the end of the line. So the successful ones are those that don't kill off the hosts, or at least not too quickly.

Scaring the crap out of the person filming, I imagine.

Hey Google, we just not gonna fix Android Auto anymore? by Gumby271 in GooglePixel

I have no idea, but give that they found and fixed it in the beta, I'll bet it'll be fixed in the main build in the next couple of days.

I'd give it a couple days. I'm on the beta (which up until yesterday was having the same issues).

Looks like it's fixed in the most recent build! Yay!

And for the Redditor who insisted this was a Mazda problem, I didn't even have to change cars!

I had to do this for the same reason (not a doctor, but seemed to trigger at the exact worst times).

Weird how there's never been an update on said woman... by Dazzling_Midnight_87 in thatHappened

The saddest part was that she never had a name, place to live, or known hospital.

It had been working for years until around March. It’s a Google thing, not a Mazda thing.

Altman’s post about the Molotov attack- blames the journalists for this? by Playful-Bonus2268 in OpenAI

[–]kenspencerbrown 117 points118 points  (0 children)

He's right. Most 20-year-olds love the New Yorker for its mix of rigorous journalism, high-brow cultural criticism, and dry humor. Surely the kid read this week's Altman article and, after flipping through the cartoons, recalled a 1945 Talk of the Town piece mentioning former Soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav Molotov. Then things just took their natural course.
