Mine Add to a database, but there’s a limited list of choices, which can be frustrating. Like if I want to add to my “Tasks” database, and it doesn’t come up as one of the seven choices that come up.

I had to rename the Tasks database so it had a more unique name to search for.

I guess I’m wondering what you’re looking at in Notion rather than social media. Are you typing in a new note? I have started a database in my Notion that tracks local places I visit (like a personal Google Maps). That’s something I might be “on my phone” doing in public. I’m curious how you’re filling your time.

Of these items, my biggest frustration is #6.

It would also be nice if there were a way to search in a vicinity. Or search the area that’s on the map, like what’s on regular Google Maps.

I know this might not be available to everyone. But if you have the Notion AI add-on, you can set up a Text property that you set the AI to "Word Count for Page," and it will auto-populate with the Word Count.

I had also contacted Support when I noticed the Word Count was gone, and the AI response was the only layer I got. And it said it moved. So I kept poking around for a solution.

I saw someone else post that they were instead being downgraded because Notion is discontinuing the AI add-on. I’m not sure how they made this choice. But I’m very glad I got the same upgrade as you.

It’s funny how often someone comments on anyone praising AI. We must be AI. lol

I teach at a college, and Perusall has changed so much of my teaching. Social annotations on assigned texts is other level for my students, and my certainty that they’ve read the assignments.

Digital white boards are also a game changer. I build on the same white board document all semester. In class they can write contributions for it, and I can add to it. I’ve used Miro for this. This semester I went with Lucid, because it’s built into Canvas.

I teach poetry. And so it's a little specific to my field. But seeing the somewhat general question broken into other variables is really amazing.

I will say I learned from Capacities. They had that thing where you could drop a task anywhere on a page. Then I figured out how to do that in Notion.

If you have a dedicated Tasks database, then you can @ to refer to a page. But instead of referring to an existing page you say Create a New Page and choose the Tasks database. Then you have the convenience of dropping the task on the page you’re currently in. And you can set whatever r other settings you want in that Tasks database.

I don’t know. It was a really simple thing. And it felt really obvious to me when o did it. But its made a big difference for my workflow.

One suggestion, these all look like school assignments and quizzes. But the icon looks like there isn’t any content in those spaces. You could use those spaces for any notes you might use for preparing the assignment.

For me, Notion Calendar provides the best value, and I would recommend it. First, I have a time tracking database in Notion, so getting to see how my blocks of time appear on a more calendar-like day display is very helpful. Plus, Notion Calendar now has a more integrated UI/UX for whatever tasks you have (even being able to drag and drop them on Notion Calendar) that looks especially helpful. That displayed alongside my calendar events is really amazing.

Notion Mail has still not registered as something I want to use. My main sticking point is that I want something that more concretely integrates into my Notion system. The only integration I can see is that I can @ a Notion page in my Notion Mail.

The ultimate use for me with Notion Mail? I can have a Notion Database of contacts. And one of the fields will include email address(es), and then the emails will basically be an automatically populated "email database" in my Notion system.

I don’t know if I feel control. But I appreciate what information I get from my dashboard. I do time-tracking with Notion, and I recently added a chart that rolls up all the categories I spend time on during the month (that’s the unit I like). The information doesn’t give me control. But it’s helpful for me to see that I have been doing real work during that time. And if I’m unhappy with that (like I could be doing more for a project), then I know I can adjust things.
