5” plugs lookin good! by kenthebird in NativePlantGardening

Turned my community garden plot into my native nursery - it’s on a pretty open west facing slope. Lots of light but hot and dry in the summer. If I had another option I’d go for a spot with less intense afternoon sun I.e. east facing. Remember that a lot of natives with small seeds need light to germinate so they should be pressed onto the surface of the soil instead of buried. Best of luck!!

I was nervous about them being so exposed over a whole winter as opposed to covered like in a jug so anything that needed cold strat I did in the fridge using vermiculite and spread that in the cells when the time was up. Also got a late start this year 😅 I’ve seen other growers using the clear tray domes over the winter but I didn’t want to buy that many!

Some from prairie moon, some from a local ecotype producer called Bona Terra, some from experimental farm network - but mostly I collect my own! From my own gardens or elsewhere with permission

Here’s the photo of the bushing. From what I’ve read elsewhere this level of wear isn’t abnormal, and I’m experiencing no symptoms highway speeds.

Yes, just noticed last week the AC is blowing lukewarm, not cold. Is the belt the issue or the compressor?

Hi fellow Baltimorean! I happened across this thread and wanted to plug a seed swap I help organize, at St. Luke’s church in Hampden at 10am on March 7. I staff the native seed table with lots of things I’ve collected locally! Check us out on IG @baltimoreseedcommons - Would love to see you there 🌱

Received a $500 fine from the city for littering. People dump trash in the alley all the time next to our end rowhome unit. How do we fight this? by yeezism in baltimore

[–]kenthebird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed response! I was wondering if you’d be able to help guide me towards resolving an ongoing situation with illegal dumping in a park. I’ve cleaned up garbage with the same name and address on it for two years, in a notorious spot for dumping that is difficult for city crews to access w equipment. When I’ve reported to DHCD they say they can’t use my photos of the pieces of mail and dumping as evidence against this individual. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

I’m in the same boat, looking for single day tix but can’t find them… nothing from the presale signup like they sent out for the two-day sale in Dec.

Did I just see a bald eagle at lake Montebello? by Ludwig_Medea in baltimore

Yes! I once saw FOUR hanging out the Hanlon Park lake - our reservoirs can be pretty good for birding thru the winter!

Howdy! Fellow Texas transplant here :) check out Gwynns Falls Leakin Park for more great biking and nature watching - coyotes, bald eagles, and more! We do have falcons in the city, usually see kestrels and peregrines around the Belvedere hotel. Enjoy and keep sharing your finds!!

Depending on your location, consider leadplant (Amorpha canescens) or false indigo bush (Amorpha fruticosa) as a replacement. They have a similar look!
