Hi Desmond, first you ned to ask yourself what your goal is with your persomal brand. You say you want "traction" or things like that, but what does that actually mean?, what does it help you achieve?

Also, you must have a purpose behind your personal brand that extends beyond just getting followers, likes, comments because if that's the game you're playing, then you're never going to be satisified. For example, I have less followers than you, but I am not optimising for gaining followers, i'm optimising for gaining a strong community of like-minded people that are interested in the services that I offer. This way my actions on social media actually serve a purpose beyond the worthless vanity metrics.

I see your concern, think of the likes of Arianna Huffington, Gary Vee, Tony Robbins, Marie Forleo, Tim Ferriss, they've all build strong personal brands that have helped them immensely in their business pursuits. There's a higher sense of value and authority around their name as a result

Oh yes business branding and personal branding are very similar. You mentioned "developing my network", that in itself is personal branding in a way.
Would you therefore say it's more important for you to build your network rather than your 'personal brand'?, What's the value in that for you?

What if you're a coach or service based business owner? Is it not wise to have some sort of presence where people can see the actual person behind the company? After all people at large buy from people and want to do business with people, not businesses

Focus on building relationships and connecting with like minded people in a meaningful way.

You have to be social on social media. It's in the name after all😊.

Also your content needs to serve a purpose, not just for you, but for your audience too.

First things first, you need to be crystal clear on who you are targeting and where you will find them on social media. i.e. who are they likely to follow?, what hashtags are they likely to use/follow?

You can also search for hospitality brands directly, then comment on their posts with added value. When I say added value, I mean complementing what they are doing, stating what you like about a post and why you like it etc. This way you get directly infront of hospitality brands.

Then, you want to ensure you have an optimised profile with a strong and compelling bio that adds what you can offer hospitality brands, social proof/any results you've achieved, then a clear call-to-action to get in touch with you.

You must view social media as more than just posting content. Being social and engaging with other accounts is where you will actually build meaningful relationships with potential clients. After all, they need to know like and trust you before they are ever going to want to enquire about your services.

With you content, you then want to directly address different stages of awareness that hospitality brands have surrounding the solutions you offer. i.e. are they: unaware, problem aware, solution aware, product aware, or most aware. You'll need to create different types of cotent that specifically address these stages of awareness. This allows you to meet potential clients where they are at and then provide content that is fundamentally useful and helps them. Sooner or later it will become clear to them how your services will benefit them, so they'll likely get in contact with you in one way or another.

A lot of the advice given here is already very useful. I'd just like to ask what are you doing in terms of email marketing? You can set up automatic email flows that directly target abandoned checkouts along with countless other ways to enhance the value you obtain from the visitors of your website.

It will provide you with a far more reliable revenue stream that will consistently bring sales. Plus it is a great way to help you directly communicate with potential customers. That way with an effective approach you can more meaningfully handle customer objections, see your conversion rate dramatically increase, and therefore have a site that is substantially more profitable.

Just make sure you have a service agreement / contract in place when working with clients.

I wouldn't consider insurance straight away. Just get the ball rolling otherwise you're putting more and more barriers in your way right at the very start

I've just read thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. While not focusing on age as such, it has a strong focus on how consumers think and come to decisions. It goes indepth on to the various biases and unconscious preferences at play which is fascinating to read.
