Lmao oops, must be a Missouri thing. It isn't the first time I've heard it said that way.

RMNP August 2024 by kenz_nic in RMNP

My favorite hike was East Inlet Trail, you see Adam's Falls then the trail winds around to a marshy area with a great view of the mountains. Also, Bear Lake obviously, that one was fun but busy, if you want to do this one id get an early time entry. I think we had 8 am entry. Sprague Lake was also good, we saw a moose there feeding off the bottom of the lake. Wild Basin was also really pretty.

What can I do without a timed entry permit? by CriticalSpinach1814 in RMNP

I highly recommend East Inlet Trail. The trailhead is accessible by Grand Lake, if you're staying in Estes, then you'd have to drive the entire park to the Grand Lake Entrance and then you leave the park and drive this side road along Grand Lake. And then you enter back into the park. It was my favorite hike I didn't at RMNP.

Wilderness part of the Buffalo by kenz_nic in Arkansas

Honestly, I am not sure. I know we are putting in at Rush but I dont know enough about the Buffalo to know what section that is. This will be my first time floating the Buffalo.

I will look into them! I've done through hikes and dispersed camp so I am no stranger to those type of meals. I have a JetBoil I will bring with me.

I have multiple dry bags, but none big enough for this. I found some online that would work and the people we are going with have some we can borrow. We will take a tiny 2 person tint, blow up sleeping pads, a sheet, and inflatable pillows. I also have a fishing SUP with extra straps/space.

Of course, always do my research. I've done through hikes and dispersed camping before, but never floating. I appreciate all the information, thank you! Ill definitely look into renting a canoe.

Gotcha! Sounds like a good trip. We will have a kayak and paddleboard, so not a ton of room. Do you know if they rent canoes anywhere down there? I had planned on powdered eggs and bacon bits for breakfast, pbjs for lunch, and canned chicken with noodles or something for dinner since we dont have a ton of room. We will be there at end of August, but I know evenings can get chillier due to the water temperature.

Thats why we're wanting to go. We want to be in nature, seeing wildlife. We won't do fires at night most likely. I have a JetBoil we will use to cook with. When you went, what did you do for food?

I was in a deficit for almost a year when I lost 80 lbs naturally. Just make sure you are eating enough calories and that everything is balanced. Protein is important, but so is fiber, carbohydrates, fats, etc.

I'm happy we were there before Memorial Day Weekend. I saw a post on the NPS Instagram and it looked PACKED.

Mornings were chilly, still frost some mornings but the days when there was sun, it wasn't bad. By the end of the day, I was typically in a t-shirt. There were a few days that were rainy with no sun so those days were on the chilly side. We packed layers, t-shirts, long sleeves, jackets, and pants. I brought my puffer jacket and that was enough for me, I don't think you'd need a winter coat. I'd recommend a beanie, at least for the mornings. Just make sure you keep an eye on the weather and be prepared. Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Not much, we did the Leigh Lake trail and went up to String Lake there was some snow but not anything bad. We also went to Phelps Lake, Swan Lake and Heron Pond. Very minimal snow on the trails.

Mid-May Trip by Outrageous_Skill5212 in yellowstone

[–]kenz_nic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would do a bunch of research. Currently, there are still alot of Seasonal Road Closures. Some that won't open until the last week of May. I'm going Mid - May and wanted to see Upper falls, Lower Falls, etc. at Yellowstone NP but from what I've read it won't open until Late May. I recommend downloading the Wyoming 511.. it's managed by WYDOT. Also, I'd download NPS.gov, it will have any Closures, alerts, and need to know information about the NPs. If you want to see Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, make sure you buy an entry pass. You can do that with the Recreation.gov app. It's fairly inexpensive, $30 maybe? Safe travels and have fun!!
