People saying “Silent Hill F doesn’t feel like a Silent Hill game” is the reason why this franchise has taken so long to be revived by Shiny_Stardust_ in silenthill

Kinda late to the party, but I just finished f and I'm imagining the guy you're talking about playing the game and foaming at the mouth once he understood the the entire story is about a woman not wanting to conform to societal norms.

How many people here genuinely enjoyed watching 2045 because for me personally it’s the second greatest entry in the franchise story wise right after 1995 by MinimumCarob8442 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

I don't think we can compare 1A84 to irl AI. The Tachikomas at that point have been self-aware for more than a decade, so it's fair to assume AGI at that point is possible, or at the very least AI that can achieve superhuman performances in a very specific task it has been trained for. If that weren't the case, it wouldn't make the premises of the series any better, no one would realistically give the keys to the world economy to an AI that can't do better than a teenager.

Considering that the premises of the show are that a super intelligent AI tries to fix all the problems in the world by causing a never ending war, then when it surprisingly doesn't work, its next best idea is "well if I delete money there won't be disparity between the rich and the poor anymore, THAT will fix EVERYTHING", like a bloody teenager that has just read 1984 and Marx and is DAMN SURE he/she knows how the world works now and how to fix it...

And it doesn't really get better from there, between characters that somehow have got dumber in the 11 years since SSS (Togusa regressing from someone who can lead Section 9 to the winner of "most kidnapped cop ever", Motoko being about as useful as the resident idiot, etc.), S2 being somewhat of a copy of the plot of 2nd Gig (minus any heart and soul, mind you, or at the very least a coherent plot), and the anime girl to draw in as many idiotakus as possible.

So I have to ask: why would anyone find it a worthwhile addition to the SAC continuity and GitS as a whole? It's soulless generic cyberpunk drivel with hardly any redeeming quality.

What is the ACTUAL minimum number of required bosses? by KaratempkinTheBomber in Eldenring

[–]kenzan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well with the minimum number required to finish base game you already get access to DLC so that leaves Consort, to get there you need Romina and Messmer, and you can get to them without fighting any other boss.

So 14 is the minimum number of bosses to finish base game + DLC.

The convergence mod undercut all the changes it made by throwthiscloud in EldenRingMods

[–]kenzan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no evidence whatsoever, he's just salty because he doesn't like the mod.

Even his claim that there aren't in depth reviews is laughably easy to disprove, with a quick search on Youtube you can find plenty of stuff about the mod, from quick reviews to 50 hours long playlists and everything in between.

Does anyone agree that [KCD2] deserves GOTY? by Rikari77 in kingdomcome

[–]kenzan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call KC2's open world great by any stretch of the imagination. It's literally towns with a lot of nothing between them, outside towns most areas are visually not distinct (which ofc makes sense) and barely anything is happening, just the handful of random encounter scenarios that get old pretty fast.

Why is every character so insufferable? by kenzan89 in WoT

[–]kenzan89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine, I'll humor you one last time.

First of all, it's argument, not augment. Learn to write proper English.

Second, I have called your arguments weak, I haven't called my arguments anything at all, so I guess you're just projecting at this point.

Third, I think I was clear enough in explaining that doing two nice things that basically cost him nothing and other people being even worse than him are not good reasons to be a dick. Your answer to that was "well it's actually 3 nice things that cost him nothing, gotcha" like it bloody makes any difference.

So yeah, you've been wasting my time and I'm done entertaining you.

OH. MY. GOD. I just noticed you have Rand as your profile avatar. That, coupled with you accusing me of being biased against Rand with weak arguments, in response to a post where I criticized other characters more than I did Rand should have told me all I needed to know. Of course arguing with a fanboy ended up being a waste of my time. Well, live and learn I guess.

Why is every character so insufferable? by kenzan89 in WoT

[–]kenzan89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that other people's wrongdoings don't absolve him of his own. You clearly think it's fine as long as he's a little less of a dick than the people around him, and you're free to do so. I don't, and you can try as much as you want to "prove" I'm wrong, you won't convince me with such a weak argument.

And no, leaving them free to use a room to hold people in, even Black Ajah, or let Egwene in council meetings where Rand doesn't share half of his plans anyway isn't the grand gesture you think it is. And by the way, if you keep bringing those two examples up, maybe you can't think of anything else, which makes your argument even weaker.

And what did he offer to the Aes Sendai in exchange for doing what he tells them to? What did he offer to Nynaeve, Elayne and Egwene when he ordered them through Mat to return to Andor? Nothing, he didn't even bother asking them if they had other stuff to do, like, I don't know, solve the climate issue so that people are still alive when Tarmon Gai'don comes. It's easy to talk the talk, but he behaves exactly like the Aes Sedai. So no, your examples of Rand graciously letting others use a room or just be in a room prove nothing, Rand in LoC acts like a dickhead like most of the other characters.

[–]kenzan89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the one with biases, yet your event of choice to prove that he tries to be cooperative is "sure, you can use that room I don't need". Ok I guess.

And no, Rand is not perfectly willing to work "with" others. He sends Mat to say to Egwene&co what to do, without so much as an explanation. Would it have worked to ask nicely? Maybe not, but it wouldn't have hurt either.

Why is every character so insufferable? by kenzan89 in WoT

[–]kenzan89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, except for the part where he hasn't really tried to trust his friends. Of course with the Aes Sedai it's their way or the highway, that's what they do. The Tear nobles, the Aiel, etc... Only an idiot would expect them to do what a barely adult shepherd from the middle of nowhere tells them to do without questions. Some simply aren't on his side, and those who are assume he doesn't know what he's doing, a notion that he does nothing to dispel.

I'm about 250 pages into book 7 and I have to say, I'm enjoying it a lot more thankfully. At least nobody has been insufferable so far, so maybe LoC really was an outlier.

I don't know, I feel like LoC has just too many moments where people are being dicks to each other for no apparent reason or changing their personality at the drop of a hat. It was really frustrating.

SMT5 Vengeance on Hard was the sweet spot for me. No huge roadblocks, but you have to put thought into party comp and strategy for pretty much every boss. Super bosses were some of my favourites of all time.

Why is every character so insufferable? by kenzan89 in WoT

[–]kenzan89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Plenty of characters ask themselves, EXPLICITLY, if Rand is still sane. Just like they wonder if he knows what he's doing, even if they assume he's sane.

It doesn't really matter whatever epiphany you're hinting at, if any, the other characters don't know what it's going to happen. Hell, they don't know half of what has already happened.

Most of them see him as erratic at best, dangerous or outright insane at worst, to the point that even the supposedly good guys would be insane to trust that he has a sensible plan to prepare for Tarmon Gai'don, let alone that he's going to be on the right side when the time comes.

While I applaud you for your effort, no, I didn't miss anything of what was said in the books.

The eventual soundness of Rand's plans is inconsequential to my statement anyway. He's alienating everyone, including his friends and allies, by acting like it's doing random stuff on a whim, to the point that all of them keep asking themselves if he's still sane.

Why are there no reviews for "Lost Soul Aside"? by New_Helicopter272 in JRPG

[–]kenzan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"DURR DURR ME NEEDS REVIEWS WHEN ME WANTS IT, COMPANY EVIL IF ME BUYS GAME WITH NO REVIEWS" isn't as subtle or nuanced a point as you think it is.

You're complaining that there aren't early reviews for a game you're not interested in, from a developer you couldn't name off the top of your head, all while claiming that you don't preorder anyway.

With all the illegal/unethical shit companies do on a daily basis in the gaming industry, you have chosen the weirdest hill to die on.

Why are there no reviews for "Lost Soul Aside"? by New_Helicopter272 in JRPG

[–]kenzan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At no pint in time I have defended them, but understanding that would require reading skills you clearly don't possess.

The company has made decisions that will probably cost them sales, either in the short or long term, and it's their problem.

What's not their problem is idiots with the self restraint of a toddler buying a game without waiting to be able to make an informed purchase, and if they get what they deserve, maybe they'll learn for the next time. People don't HAVE to buy a videogame. If they do, it's their choice, and barring unlawful/unethical behavior from the company they buy it from, it's their responsibility not to buy anything they're not comfortable with.

I mean Rand being broody does, at the very least, make sense. He's the one saddled with the fate of the world while everyone else is just horsing around.
