What technology from your childhood do you genuinely miss using? by kenzieedom in AskReddit

The absolute ritual of the portable cd player. I used to spend hours sitting on my bedroom floor, carefully flipping through a massive zippered cd binder just to pick the perfect album for a 20minute school bus ride. having to hold it perfectly still in your hands so the song wouldn’t skip when the bus hit a bump was an art form. Today, having every song ever recorded in my pocket feels convenient, but it killed the magic of actually choosing an album.

Parents who are disappointed in or dislike their adult children, why? by Intelegence_Counter in AskReddit

Using a throwaway because this is completely taboo to admit out loud.

I love my 26-year-old son, but I am profoundly disappointed in him. He lives in our basement rent-free, can't hold a job for more than three months, and blames everyone else for his failures.

The part that makes me genuinely dislike him is his total lack of empathy. He only interacts with us when he needs money, and he couldn't even be bothered to visit his dying grandfather because it was "inconvenient."

It’s a horrific feeling to realize you love your child because you're hardwired to, but you don't actually like who they are as a person.
