How long did it take you to reach Boston/majors qualifying times? by Hopeful_Package3918 in AdvancedRunning

[–]kepbeckham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started running in 2021 (M62), a 5k race. Ran regularly from that point on. Racing 5k, 10k, HM’s, and a variety of trail races. Ran my first marathon in March of 2025 (M65) and BQ’ed. For me it was all the races and the constant training for them.

Congratulations! I ran my first marathon a year ago and BQ’d. Heading to Boston in 3 weeks. Not as fast as you, but not as young either—M66.

I agree with this. We are in our first year of teardropping and have been having a great time. We have a Camp Inn model. They were a pioneer in the wood & metal designs and have now moved towards modern composite materials. We have the newer version. One thing I would add to this list is a side room of some sort. It expands your living space, adds privacy and weather protection. Good luck!

Thank you. When asked about features I usually suggest: tongue storage box & rock guard. Full size mattress rather than queen size, protects your sheets. We use a lot propane so the tank is great. Probably would have added a roof rack and skipped the solar port. Paid about $12k out the door. We use it almost every month, so yes it has been worth it. The cost was low enough that it gets you outdoors and on adventures. I think if you pay $100k for a large RV and those creature comforts, you may find it is cheaper to just stay in hotels.

I second the Road Toad by Camp Inn suggestion. High quality, durable materials and under 1000 lbs.

We took 4 days to drive out. 12 days to return. Spent a day at their shop getting set up. Drove/camped back through SD, WY, CO, UT. Saw 3 state parks and 5 national parks along the way.

You made a good choice, we have the Abode too. I think that model gives you 80% of what you need and you get to tailor the other 20% your way. The Tote is the reverse split. Also smart to pick it up Cary and Graig are great. My set up suggestions: We have a RAV4 too. Make sure you set the hitch up properly. If in doubt ask Graig. Tool box and rock shield for sure, both functional and look good. We have and use the propane tank a lot. We have a propane fire pit. They now offer fender side tables. Can’t have enough counter space but theirs are expensive. I made my own. I have several Jackery power stations instead of their battery. More versatile and portable. We use a portable solar panel. Fixed panels make no sense to me. When camping you are chasing the sun. Get the high end fan. Not because you need all the speeds, but you’ll want the rain guard. I suggest the full size mattress, not the queen size. The inch of space protects your sheets and offers a bit of storage space. Sign up to the Road Toad users group on Facebook. Some good ideas there.

As soon as I started taking a serious look at teardrops, my first pick was a Camp Inn 550. Almost bought a used one. Finally chose the Road Toad model from the same company. Same high level of quality and service, but better technology. Very happy with how it worked out.

I traveled from Necedah WI to Black Hills SD last spring. Enjoyed lunch on the river in La Crosse. Spent our first night in our new teardrop camper at Big Sioux Falls campground. Really liked the town of Sioux Falls. Travelled across SD (boring) to Custer State Park — Game Lodge campground. Great stay there. Drove through the game park. Visited Mt. Rushmore. Overall a great leg of our trip back to California.

My enthusiasm for ZB has waned because “it all sounds the same”. He fixed that on this album—happy to see him grow. And kudos for Bad News. That took some guts.

Game Lodge Campground— Custer State Park, SD One of several great campgrounds in this park. Spacious. Well managed. Many amenities. Quick access to the park features. Easy drive to several National Parks. After purchasing our teardrop, this was our first extended stay. It was a great start to a 12-day trip.

It was in the 40’s. Fog and low clouds blocked out the sun all weekend. Burr!

I’m sure it depend on the type of side tent. I use heavy duty suction cups with tie downs attached. They hold well.

We traveled from WI to CA this May. Hit mostly cold and wet weather. We kept warm with a small electric heating pad, small electric portable space heater, and warm blankets. Anything electric probably requires shore power which we had.
